Jason X

I'd recommend watching this. Thought it was very interesting, and hosted by Savini. It points out loads of the bits that the various directors wanted in the shittier films that got cut, making them more shitty than they were ever meant to be.

I think the "His Name Was Jason" special is still on Starz. I know I watched that one and something called "Going to Pieces" a while back. Both pretty good horror specials.

Anyone picking up the Friday the 13th CD Set in the next few weeks? There is supposed to be a screening of I think part 1, 2, & 6 with a signing as well. I won't be able to make that unfortunately.

I agree. I've always thought the potato sack was much creepier then the hockey mask and i really like the way the second one played out.

The Villain 01-01-2012 05:59 AM

Stupid double post

crazy raplh 01-01-2012 06:40 AM

yes! and when he jumps through the window is the scariest scene in the series, and well as the head the refridge I thought

The Villain 01-01-2012 06:43 AM

Yeah the first time i saw it, i didnt see that coming at all. Totally freaked me out.

ImmortalSlasher 01-02-2012 09:52 AM

Part 2 freaked me out when I originally saw it. I didn't get the ending at all. Part of me still doesn't. But that's what makes Part 2 probably the best of the series. I do think the hockey mask is more iconic. The remake was disappointing.

Speaking of Jason, Fear.net has the first 8 except for part 7 for some reason up till the 31st. Also included is the His Name was Jason special.

crazy raplh 01-07-2012 11:00 AM

I think it was just about how she was a phych and jason drove her insane??? I dont know same thing in the ending of part 3.

Bob Gray 01-07-2012 03:51 PM

Yes, they are pretty bad but that is what makes them so loveable. You and your friends sit and make fun of them.

ImmortalSlasher 01-08-2012 09:50 AM

I still think that the ending of part 8 is one of the worst of the series. But I'm starting to think that as a whole, part 8 belongs with the best of the series. It is enjoyable and funny. The opening tune is great in an 80s way. It has one of the best if not tied for the best a-word characters in that guy teacher. His death is great. The majority of the boat kills are good. Plus the Jason on the rooftop fight, the small scene on the street with the hoods, and the diner bit is classic.

crazy raplh 01-09-2012 10:57 AM

yea part 8 I never understood where they were going with the being washed away with toxic waste and washing up as a little boy. then part 9 he was back in the woods again.

Part 9 is best avoided. That was a horrible mess. It shouldn't be too hard to make a good Friday the 13th movie. But I think there are too many cooks in the kitchen. The remake should have been good. But at times felt like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake with all the backwoods people. Also, Jason torturing the girl in the fire was wrong. Jason is about quick kills. Plus, the whole thing with the sister. Then the rules were changed. Too much was messed up in the remake and it was barely funny and more annoying.

Anyway, what do you mean about the ending of Part 2? I thought we basically got a dream scene at some point. Kind of like in the original Friday the 13th. But who knows where the dream actually starts?

Jokuc 01-17-2012 02:02 PM

I'm back after a long time and probably I won't be as active as before but anyways,
The parts of Friday The 13th I like most are Part 2 and Part 3.

Toadliquor 03-30-2012 02:37 AM

Rank the Friday the 13th Movies.

Here's my list from best to worst:

1) Friday the 13th part 4

2) Friday the 13th part 3

3) Friday the 13th part 2

4) Friday the 13th

5) Freddy vs Jason

6) Jason X

7) Friday the 13th part 6

8) Jason goes to Hell

9) Friday the 13th part 5

10) Friday the 13th part 7

11) Friday the 13th part 8

*I really couldn't rank the remake because I never watched it. By the time it came out, I was completely sick of trying to endure remakes.

Part 4 is epic! Jason is soo menacing and vicious in it. And Tom Savini's effects are some of his best.

It also holds a special place in my heart because it was the first rated R horror I saw in the theaters. I was only 9 years old, yet my mom knew I loved the previous 3 (HBO was great for horror back in those days), and she's a closet horror fan, so she took my friend and I to see it. My friend freaked before we even went into the theater and was trying to convince me to see some Rick Springfield movie. Afterwards, he was a mess on the ride home and kind of stopped hanging out with me after that.

The original has to be number one, with part two a second.

All the others are variable apart from Jason X which ranks so far down the list that a number hasn`t been named yet.Man, Jason X is a travesty of the highest proportions. What a godamn awful movie that is.

Elvis_Christ 04-01-2012 02:11 AM

I don't know about it being a travesty. Jason X is pretty fun IMO. It had a couple of great deaths and David Cronenberg. Total mindless popcorn entertainment. The series lost any sort of integrity after it carried on for a 5th flick anyways.

Part 5 I think is sub-titled "The New Beginning". Which was very apt because it was the beginning of the end. The series became laughable. While I can appreciate some aspects of them, they can't compare to the original 4.

Part 2 is great! Although, there's one aspect of it that's sort of odd. It's the only time Jason really left the confines of Camp Crystal Lake to kill someone (the chick who chopped his mom's head off). But there in lies the problem.

First off, Jason is "slow" to put it kindly. Am I supposed to buy that he actually tracked down Alice? I don't think with his one eye, he'd be able to get a drivers license. And you can't get ANYWHERE in Jersey without a car, but maybe it's one of those special areas where buses do run.

So let's say Jason checks out a bus schedule and can figure that out... He still has to figure out where Alice lives. This happened way before the internet, so he couldn't just Google her name, besides, when would he have found out her name? For the sake of continuity, let's say that he over heard a camp counselor use her first and last name. Then he breaks into Alice's apartment and stabs her with an ice pick.

So he was smart enough to stalk someone pre-internet. That takes a lot of planning and, intelligence. But by the end of the movie, he's so dopey, that he thinks Amy Steel is his mom because she tucks back her hair and puts on a moldy sweater. Maybe he was huffing paint thinner or eating some weird berries growing in the woods, I don't know. I just always thought that aspect of the movie was pretty interesting.

This is true. That spear throw in the opening of Jason X was great.

Haha good point! I never really thought about that I tend to ignore the plot holes n' shit when it comes to flicks like this.

Completely agree=for me I felt it had the best brooding and menacing atmosphere throughout. I felt Jason was at his most fearsome in this and also the ending was truly unforgettable. I'm jealous that you saw it at cinemas at 9yrs old. Here if a film is given any rating other than PG (12, 15, 18)you have to be old enough or they didn't let you in even if you were with a parent. I had to settle for recording it off the TV late one night and watched it with my cousin-awesome stuff.

I'm ok with plot holes as long as the movie is good. In the case of part 2, the beginning sequence of that movie is so great I didn't even notice it until I dated this girl who was a big fan of the Friday movies. One weekend, we hung out on my couch the entire weekend smoking kind, analyzing the movies as if they were the zapruder film. Good times.

That is a drag. But I know there was some wacky shit going on with that Mary Whitehouse chick, and it was a good way to distract the public from Maggie Thatcher's evil deeds. But at least ya got to watch it before Jason became a joke (and a zombie).

The sad thing is that NOW in the UK we are going back that way with a conservative government-we've had Human Centipede 2 banned outright, A Serbian Film butchered by cuts and the poster for Final Destination 5 banned due to "complaints".Also there are still some "video nasties" that still haven't been released on dvd here. This time people aren't being distracted they can see exactly what's happeneing. Or at least I hope they can before censorship goes too far

ANY sort of censorship is wrong! No matter how shitty the movie (Honestly Fear, HC2 is terrible, the first one is much better, but you still have the right to see it).

What's real funny is the people running governments today were the ones who were running out to the video stores back in the day, renting Evil Dead, and Xtro. BUt now that they have kids, they want the world to be a sterile safe environment so as not to bruise their precious childs fragile, egg shell minds.

Yep it's all part of this brain washing, controlling issue they have pretty soon, well have to have a bill passed to use a public restroom, or we can only eat pizza on fridays. It seems that majority of the people do not know how to think for them selves anymore. They just figure "well that the way it is"

Friday the 13th

In honor of this great holiday (Friday the 13th), I feel a little Friday the 13th chat would be lovely. My question is this: Is Friday the 13th The New Begining really a bad movie? I mean I kinda feel butthurt over the lack of the real Jason Voorhees, but the rest of the movie...I just don't like it. Besides, isn't the fact it really isn't Jason enough to allow someone to hate it? At least halloween 3 Season of the Witch was an overall good movie.

cooperanimation 07-13-2012 04:02 AM

I don't actually hate it, it's not the best by far. But almost any Friday the 13th is better than none. I don't like part 8 myself. anyway, check out this awesome take on Jason's life after the killing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=98Nf5PtTRNk
