How open is the world? How linear is the game?

Very open. Only the intro is linear.

Did you play Dying Light? Can you compare it? Dying Light is described as open world, but its all about doing fetch quests. You can go various places in the 'world', but exploring was fairly dull and felt like all I was doing was getting supplies to make diablo themed weapons.

I actually havent't played Dying Light yet, even tho it was one of the games I liked most forward to last year. I'll probably buy it when it gets dirt cheap.

I would much rather compare the game to Assassins Creed, coz they have a lot in common. You can choose to complete the missions and side missions by stealth or by blasting you way in. I don't have the patience to do the stealth thing. The missions are quite the same so far. You either have to rescue or kidnap someone or destroy something in a fortress guarded by russian soldiers. It's up to the player if he wants to do several missions in a row or head back to the base (or chopper) from time to time. It all takes place in Afghanistan, which is pretty much just a huge dessert with not much variety, so i mostly use the chopper to get around. In the chopper you can also listen to tapes you find on your missions, such as information or music. So I always put on Asia "Only Time Will Tell". Love that song. ::cool::

SOMA by Frictional Games

I'm currently playing SOMA by Frictional Games and I'm loving every minute of it. The best 27 USD I've ever spent, really! The atmosphere and story is very immersive and the sound design is superb. The story keeps you hooked the whole time and it doesn't feel like you're forced to go forward it gives freedom to explore and do as you wish. If you're a fan of horror in general, this game is a must have.

I was thinking about buying it, but it seems every horror game has all of these 'puzzles' that are almost blatantly jarring. Something like put the skull on the pedestal which holds down the switch which opens the lions mouth so you can get the dagger which fits into some lock you get to hours and hours later in the game. Or having to jump from stone to stone or get swallowed by the monster in the water. And so on.

So does SOMA have a lot of things like that?

Freak 10-10-2015 05:38 PM

On my Xbox One I'm playing Destiny and Lego Marvel Superheros.

And on my Vita I'm playing Uncharted and Little Big Planet.

Thumb resize.

"Blood Bowl 2" PS4

Not a game you just pick up and play. You have to be in the right mood, coz like the Warhammer games it takes a LOT of strategy to win and a long, long time to master. And I totally suck at it.

I've been debating buying it. From what I've been reading its Blood Bowl 1, just better graphics. The main issue for me is the AI which according to what I've read is as bad as the first one or worse.

I think you might be surprised how easy it becomes to master. Particularly because the AI is probably as bad as the first.

I've been playing it for a month now. I master jack shit. Half of my weak ass team is dead and the silver league division i play in has much better teams than mine, despite some very weird ai actions in each game.

A new Corpse Party game came out for PS Vita this week. I'm going to get that.

TheBossInTheWall 10-14-2015 10:23 AM

I bought Age of Decadence, came out today, but I haven't played it yet. Seems to be a lot like Fall Out I and II in gameplay, not sure how well done the story is and so forth.

I want those games so badly, I was waiting for physical releases to come out but there's no hope now I fear...

Just bought the recent Humble Bundle. $15 for Remember Me, Resident Evil Revelations, Resident Evil 5 (which I still haven't played), and Lost Planet 3 among others made it a no-brainer.

I think the Corpse Party games were released in Japan physically. But over here this last one is the only one. And I think it's kind of limited. But at least it has a soundtrack and artbook for all the games. The first two I downloaded. They were on sale. Probably are now during the Halloween month. I saved them on a PSP memory stick so they are basically physical since many games these days don't have manuals anyway. I could get a PSP case and make a custom box if I wanted to.

First time hearing of Humble Bundle. I have to look and see how that works.

"Assassin's Creed: Syndicate" PS4

Not bad, but it feels like I've been here before. Several times.

Halo 5 and Destiny... Destiny's weapon bounties have me coming back although the one I'm stuck on is proving to be annoying...

cheebacheeba 10-28-2015 05:02 PM

So Halo 5...is that this one where they're hunting MC down, or is that a different game?
I never played the series, I mean I played the first one 3-4 years late, and didn't really see it as the "amazing" game they'd billed it to be, so I didn't bother with the rest.
Until Halo 4.
I'd heard this was something of a new beginning to the series, and checked it out. Noticed a different company did it?
I actually really REALLY enjoyed it. Great game in nearly every way.

I saw a trailer for what I thought was Halo 5, looked like a direct sequel to 4 quite some time ago where MC was wondering around in the desert with what looked like Cortanas data chip in his hand...but have seen nothing but this other one "guardians?" since.
Is guardians part of 4, or did it replace what it was supposed to be, or is it referring to extra game modes or online or something?

I have had NO goddamn time for games.

Love the child. Hate the lack of time.

Yep, in 5 you play as Chief's team and another Spartan named Locke's team. You're mostly playing through and hunting Chief down who's gone AWOL but there are a couple missions here and there that put you in 117's boots. It's fun but it seems a bit slower than the last games and the HUD... too much crap in my face. As far as a kid goes I'm in the lucky stages, she won't sleep unless she's being held some nights so I just Boba wrap her to my chest and play games or watch movies. 2 months old and she's seen more horror flicks than most people I know...

cheebacheeba 10-29-2015 01:52 AM

Sounds like maybe...not as good as 4?

Same here but I got the XBone version. I don't know that I'll ever finish this game, once I got into building a city for survivors I've been doing that exclusively.

I think I've got over 10 hours into Fallout 4 now and I haven't even been to the first major city they tell you to go to for the story.

Finally opted for next gen.....Xbox one...Fallout edition. Started this game and figure I'm gonna be playing it for awhile. Though Just Cause 3 comes out next month and I love the freedom of those games.

ANY REC FOR XBOX ONE GAMES?

"The Cave".
I played a demo ages ago, and I've had it sitting on my steam list for about a year.
Looks promising, fun.
Love the aesthetic of the 2.5d's
