holy shit people... in house of the dead you can see a SPRING BOARD that one of the zombies uses in a jump in a chase scene in the woods... THAT is horrible for a higher budget movie... also, the whole "i'm a generic rip off of the matrix" scene pissed me off... it went on for a year... and the acting was HORRIBLE... come on !!!!!1

Signs is more sci-fi than horror, but House of the Dead sucked worse than any horror movie I have ever paid to see. I have to vote Signs even though I don't consider it horror.

Hell, The Sound of Music is a better horror film than House of the Dead.

i count signs in the genre of "sci-fi horror"... meaning it has scare elements, as well as sci fi elements

Some people think if a movie is scary, then it's horror. I don't really see it that way, but oh well...everyone's entitled to an opinion, I guess.

For me though, horror needs some degree of gore. Signs is a bit scary at parts, but I would call it a sci-fi/suspense thriller then. There really isn't anything about it that makes it a horror movie (in my eyes at least).

Don't take this wrong though, I have slightly odd standards for what I consider horror. Silence of the Lambs, for instance, is not horror. (I'll probably get flamed for this, but oh well...) It's a scary, suspenseful drama (IMO). I don't know why. I would say Hannibal is a lot closer to what I consider horror than Silence of the Lambs.

Here are a couple other movies I don't really consider horror that a lot of people do.... Seven, Starship Troopers, Sixth Sense, etc... (There's more, but I've probably already upset enough people with that short list that I better call it a day...)

that's cool dude.. horror is something that is subjective to each viewer... the gore thing changes throughout though... like, halloween had no gore and barely any blood at all.. but that is unmistakable in its placement in the horror genre :)
