This is a sculpture to commemorate the founding of Guide Dogs for the blind, which was set up locally.

Below is another of the wifes pictures, I really like this one.

Very nice! Were they from Kyoto?

Also, is that yellow car an 86 Corrola?

Abominus 05-05-2009 07:03 AM

The first shot is on a mountain near Tsukuba, I can't remember exactly where the second one was, it was near Nikko and the third is at the famous Nikko Circuit track. It's actually an 85 Corolla owned by a super friendly drifter named Isao. Good call on the car though.

nice to see some activity in here again ..

i was sorting out my photos and found these from several years ago.
(before i had a decent camera)

these are of the girl that was staying with us for a while that loved fashion photography.

so this was done with natural light as i had an old digital and no decent flash at the time.

my favorite one is of course - my kid after he stole the model's hat :D

Ferox13 05-05-2009 12:29 PM

The exposure is fine in the first one....

Also you'd be amazed how many pro photographers love natural light..

urgeok2 05-05-2009 12:32 PM

i sure do - i avoid the flash like the plague ...

i bought some gorgeous f2.8 low light lenses and try to utilize available light as much as possible

Nice pictures of the old house. Is that just a random one or does it have some kind of relevance to you?

The black and white ones are good too, although it never ceases to amuse me that people spent years optimizing colour photography and now all we seem to do is take pictures in black and white. Sometimes it does look arty, like the above, but I wish these people on myspace would take a real photo of themselves instead of using every and any effect they can thing of.

I pass the house every day leaving town and sometimes I venture into the yard out of boredom. Other than that, nope.

How did you go about this? Did they have large rubber wings you could put on or did they throw you out of an aeroplane and make you flap.

It was pretty intimidating when it turned to face me, despite the fact it was hooded. It was in a relaxed mood though, the shot with its wings out its actually basking in the sun as it felt my arm was a stable perch! I was made up with that!

urgeok2 07-04-2009 04:52 PM

thats awsome - i love those birds, would be amazing to actually hold one...

It would be well worth checking out if there is a falconry place near you, its a brilliant way to spend a morning. It wasnt cheap though, three hours at the place we went to was £75 each, but I fully intend to do it again. They do an owl experience day which includes Snowy owls, one of my favs.
