Enjoyed tonight's episode; proved once again that what makes this show so dang entertaining is its utter abandon and indulgence in catharsis. The AV Club's rather negative review makes a joke about the only motivation for this show being what will make the creators jump up and down in the writer's room. And that may be true, but it's still a lot of fun to watch.

Do you watch Modern Family?

[SPOILERS]

I couldn't help myself - All I could think of was - OH MY GOD THEY KILLED CAM!

LOL

...

But I want your opinion... For some reason this is really bothering me - Every time they show Dylan McDermit doing his Psychologist thing, all I can think of, "Man, he's an absolutely terrible psychologist. How does he continue to find work??

My boyfriend is less bothered by it and says probably what NE would say - Dylan is lost in his own demons and they're taking over and him being a terrible Dr. caught up with him a few episodes ago when the patient committed suicide, remember? - But I just can't help but ask, "HOW DOES HE KEEP GETTING PATIENTS?! HE'S AWFUL!!"

I might just be thinking about it too personally since I've seen awful psychiatrists in the past, but for some reason this little picky-wicky-point bugs me.

Does that get to anyone else?

...

Back to this week's episode - The end was so incredibly tragic and beautiful - I absolutely love Tate's relationship with the daughter - So tragic and moving. I really loved the very last scene of them cuddling in the bed.

GOD I LOVE THIS SHOW - It's really difficult to wait to watch it week by week.

I think that the two Halloween episodes are my favorite so far and I can't wait to see more.

I apologize if im repetitive at all but i avoided reading any and all comments prior to mine in this thread to avoid spoilers at all costs until i watch the remaining episodes available.

I just watched the Pilot episode on Hulu and i have to say that i am absolutely loving this show completely.

From what i watched it reminded me of The Shinning, especially in the aspect of whats happening to the father but absolutely 1000% better. And i also feel like there is a little Rose Red and Rosemary's Baby thrown in there aswell.

For instance, the fact that there is a Caretaker, that the father is seeing this old woman as a beautiful young woman (like the old woman in the tub in the shinning), the fact that the couple has just one child, that the house is haunted (obviously) and that there were twins that were murdered there except male this time.

I found it ironic how it took almost 3 hours to get across some of the ideas that were portrayed in The Shining, but it merely took just 45 minutes to say much of the same and more in American Horror Story.

Im off to the next episode. Happy Viewing :D

I'm into about 5 episodes now and I absolutely love the show. At first I found it a little cheesy and cliche but once the story progressed, the characters showed more depth and became more interesting.

I'm wondering though - will there be a second season? I'm curious because it seems like the type of show that will be very strong for the first season, but will lose interest in the second. If there is, I'm wondering if it will follow this family, or will be a complete new house and characters?

Like I said, I've only watched the first 5 episodes, so my question may be answered in the next few. But I'm still curious!

^FX confirmed a second season for the show last week.

Haha, I've been thinking the same thing. How in the world is he getting patients? He's certainly a terrible doctor, which was touched on with the suicide thing (although that ostensibly had more to do with that kind of trance he was in), but yeah, I can't imagine how he's getting these people. They've never talked about how he advertises or anything, either.
But yeah, I'm with you.

He's probably the cheapest one in town and people have to make do with him.

The last two episodes were great can't wait for the next one.

Yes, he's a terrible Dr., a terrible husband... he's just terrible. People who are terrible at what they do sometimes just seem to be successful. It doesn't bother me that much cuz I know at some point he's going to get what's coming to him for being such a terrible person... and it's going to be bad...

Definitely. I'd say he's already gotten at least some of it, especially with Hayden coming back from the dead and that burned-face guy blackmailing him and so on.
