You are lucky enough to build RESISTANCE.
Build up the wall to fight the REALLY bad shit coming down the road.
Don't be so quick to grab the antibiotics.
You will get better with rest and lots of water....even if it takes 2 weeks of being home- better than the common cold killing you in 10 years, eh?

And in this situation, antibiotics will make not one bit of difference to the outcome. They do nothing against viruses.

Problem is, people tend to demand a pill when they visit a doctor, otherwise they haven't gotten their money's worth. When people go to a doctor, and he says "It's just a virus, take some paracetamol for the fever, keep the fluids up, etc" people feel cheated. So doctors prescribe antibiotics. And people get better. Which they would have anyway, had they taken nothing. But this reinforces the "need" for antibiotics next time. So the cycle continues....

meds

I do actually agree with the whole over medicating thing 'mothers little helper', but there have been many manic depressives and scizos for hundreds of years, usually they either wouldnt survive or were locked away.

Secondly its only in the last 30yrs that we have begun to understand psychology, nature and nurture, and distinguishing the actions of different chemicals in the brain, hence more people being diagnosed and medicated. Not to mention that 100yrs ago poorer people didnt live past 45-50yrs, so we ve got an increased population as well.

I myself started getting ill when i was 3yrs old (nothing to do with my parents!), no one could understand it until i became very severe at the age of 12. Theres always the genetic arguement as well as my grandfather killed himself due to the same illness - he wasnt medicated.

Since then ive had 7 different psychiatrists, 9 different types of different psychologists and different therapists etc. There are people out there who desperatly need meds, and there are those that just need an excuse for being a bit down, or their kids thick therefore they must have ADAH.

I welcome any suggestions that would help me rid myself of my 25yrs of mental illness!:)

Which is why Britain's NHS works.

Oh when will the madness end!!

Internets made it worse, people are self prescribing themselves some seriously strong drugs that are often addictive. Its turning into The Brave New World.:)

I am not on anything right now but when my back acts up badly and I have the extra money I try and get some percacets or pain killers for the pain but Christmas + Bad Economy + Bad Job Market = continual back pain.

Just gotta deal.

When im flu/cold sick I usually deal with it at home, ginger, lemon, honey, garlic, and lotsa good stuff. Cheebs usually makes me a crazy drink that would knock anything outta ya haha. I hate antibiotics. I don't even like the dr's ha. But if im really sick I will get some antibiotics into me just to help it along. I usually don't have to bother just as long as cheebs isn't sick then im good, if he gets sick then my colds and stuff last heaps longer cos he gives it back to me 10x worse.

For travel sickness I have some ginger tablets.

Anxiety and depression, I refuse to take any more meds for this sorta shit, they help of course but they also cost too much considering you gotta take em for long periods of time and theres the whole addiction thing too. So for me I have some breathing techniques ( which help me slow me heart rate down too) and weed haha. I find weed to be the best medication of anything I have tried. It keeps me calm, makes me get off my ass and do some cleaning to haha. Hasn't made my depression or anxiety worse. If anything its made it heaps better.

For my back pain which I get often its usually laying down and some advil and weed.

I love it as natural and I can get it basically.

WEED

Yes despite being on a shit load of meds for my 'mental illness' (i find it amusing when its called that) weed has been a long standing and extremely effective illegal med. Unfortunatly in UK (dont know bout elsewhere) they have now genetically enhanced and cross bred so much so that we have trouble getting anything but skunk which is about 60% stronger (and not natural) than normal weed. It causes cannibis psychosis and has given pot a bad name, so i stick to decent normal weed.:)
