When asked, I politely explain that it's my "policy" because I never know when I'm gonna want to see something. And actually, that's true; I have these in the collection because they're movies I do feel like watching from time to time.

Yes, people have gotten irked about it, but they got over it eventually.

I would usually rather give something away because at least the matter is finished there...

i agree with giving away, nice and clean break.

Huh?

What's going on everybody? I prefer to have backups of all my movies so that I don't have to cough up an intestine when it gets damaged or lost.

crabapple 04-22-2007 02:09 PM

That's a good idea also...

now, I thought I would mention, a movie is a really good gift because it's in a little box, and it's an hour and a half of fun and, I don't know, can reflect your philosophy of life or something. Never give someone a movie if you think they won't like it because that's just sort of insulting. Only give good movies away.

If you have a really awful movie and you think it would be wrong for anyone else on the planet to waste their time watching it, then do the world a favor and toss it in the garbage. Smash it a little first, too. That way the movie won't be able to hurt anybody else.

I don't lend my dvds or vhs to anyone unless they let me borrow one of theirs.

Now I can't find my copy of Hitcher

Almost weekly I am noticing that my movies are missing

It would seem that MY movies have a tendency to lend THEMSELVES out...

I am so grateful for eBay

darkmoon 04-22-2007 03:21 PM

Yup it happens to me all the time.I just get excited that someone is interested in watching the movies I like(rare to find people who share my interests here)and to find someone who likes to read that i share my things and never get them back:(It happened with a couple of books and a game I had.

Oh yeah...That reminds me...Seri lent my Eternal Darkness game (brand new, I only played it through ONE time) to a friend about 6 months ago...Looks like I'll be replacing THAT, too

Kane_Hodder 04-23-2007 05:04 AM

I have lent CDs and DVDs to my friends 4-5 times, and found out that they either come back with plenty of scratches, or don't come back at all. My DVD of Final Destination was full of scratches when my friend returned it to me about a fortnight later, after constant calls from me to return it, of course. Since then, giving them out is a strict no-no. Any excuse will do, as long as the person asking gets the idea that I am not going to give it to him, no matter what.
