OK, a torture scene for ths movie was shortened after preview audiences were taken sick.

The lead actor lost 15 lbs for his role.

The director had a "dream cast" of 3 people, which included Julie Christie and Al Pacino. He only got the 3rd person, who was then nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Oscar.
