I will always chose originality and creativity over flashy, tricked up, soulless "reimaginings," no matter how popular they are with the 15-35 crowd.

That's a good point about the personal aspect...Carrie was the first Stephen King book I ever read...It's also the first movie I EVER saw at a drive-in (followed by Ruby, it was a double feature)...It holds a special place in my heart :)

Body count? - Hard to narrow that down. Off screen it'd be hundreds/thousands...on screen we've got a handful, but not TOO many.

Creative kills? - Not in the same way as something like Nightmare on Elm Street, but a definite yes.

Time wasted on unnecessary talking (drama)? - There is a lot of dialogue, but the two main characters are so cynical, nihilistic and badass that even you would like it.

Time wasted on romantic crap? - Zero.

Time wasted on sex scenes? - A few minutes, plus there are a couple scenes with the...er...""noises". The sex scene is FUCKED though - not like a normal one by any means.

Average length of spans where absolutely nothing happens? - Zero. This movie is relentless - aside from a little bit at the first and near the middle, it's pretty well non-stop craziness.

Or maybe you're just too much of a non-conformist to ever agree with the masses. You'll prejudice yourself against things based solely on the fact that they're "popular". Heaven forbid that I'm not the only person with good taste! I can't be snobby when I actually agree with popular opinion!

And you did miss my point anyway - I never said that you should like one version better than the other. I never once defended or attacked either movie - I just stated that it's hard to classify the 80's version as a "remake". Whether you like it or not is up to you - I was just trying to have a friendly discussion about why you claim not to like it.

I'm not trying to change your opinion - I'd just like to point out that you're even more of a "lost cause" (as you put it) than Rayne is.

The only time I have EVER been convinced to watch something when I wasn't the least bit interested (and it was a LONG time ago), was when someone told me, "I just know you'll like it...Trust me on this one...It's not what you think"

It was Nothing But Trouble...And I DID really like it...

So...It will be interesting to see what happens with this one

I'm going to jump on the Fight Club Bandwagon here and say that it was my favorite movie for years and it really made me think because it deals with issues not only about "what is reality?", but society today. Fight Club is deep, while still being gritty and dark.

I was also surprised when I saw Nothing But Trouble too.

Oh and Fight Club vote for me. :)
