Sculpt 04-10-2017 03:59 PM

Oh well, congrats to 1967...

Tough one... I'd have voted for 1992, Lawnmower Man and Twin Peaks are standouts, some nice stuff from Stoker's Dracula and Army of Darkness. For 1967, Quartermass is a standout, but not too impressed with anything else. By the bye, 1927 Fall of House of Usher is a cool visually experimental avant garde 12 min silent film, it's on youtube.

Of course a guy named Repo'd would vote 1967 cause of the film, "This Night I Will Possess Your Corpse"... which is a hilarious title!

Bloof 04-10-2017 05:15 PM

I will put forth 1992.

Another tough match. 2001 got more number of good horror movies (thanks to the rise of Asian Horror; Period) than its competitors but in 1974...TCM, BLACK CHRISTMAS & YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN happened! Three heavily influential & genre-defining movies.

Yep, most of these matches are pretty damn hard to vote. I am surprised you guys are choosing a year out of the 3 listed - if I was a voter, I would be twisting and turning in my bed all night, debating over and over again, and STILL not be able to reach a decision.

But wait till Round 1 is over - for there's still a twist in the tale, yet...

1933
King Kong & The Invisible Man were 2 most extraordinary achievements according to their time of release. Still this is a think to wonder how remarkably they made those films & the impact they left on audience back at that time. Undoubtedly this films were ahead of their time. Even Kong is still very much alive in Hollywood today.

Can't believe I've just voted against one of my favorite years of horror...1971: The Year of Giallo begins & Dr. Phibes! Sad to see it may get knock out so early in the tournament.
