yes they are if you watched them, they both have unique enviroments for killings especially Jason X. and plus Jason Takes NY is hilarious, like that guy who tries to fight Jason with his hands and in the end gets his head upercuted off, or when he was walking down a street and theres that gang and he just kicks that stereo, that's funny. Basicly you have to watch these movies like it's your first time every time , with an open mind, you might think they're bad but they could be great.

Ive seen them both.
I pride myself in going into every movie with an open mind. But IMO, these two were the worst of the series. 2 and 3 were good. The rest I can take or leave. But these two were just garbage.

I get that its supposed to "cute" in parts (the two parts you mentioned, when Jason beats the sleeping bag on a tree in X). It seemed like grasping at straws to me.

Dont take this the wrong way, just wondering.
How old are you?
Again, just wondering.

i liked Jason Takes the Muppets - my god, what he did to Kermit was just - oh my god - let's just say i'll never eat frogs legs again!

I'm 17. I'm sorry I just like cheesy movies that take time to think about like how did jason get to NY and how'd he get into space. I just love cheesy old movies. EX. The Blob and Maximum Overdrive

Part 2 is my favorite these days. Lots of atomosphere and its fairly well written for a change. Big fan of The Final Chapter too.

Part 7 never gets any justice either. Most people hate it but I think its solid. Its long over due for a uncut release...

Elvis_Christ 05-26-2009 03:15 PM

Well they eventually got round to releasing My Bloody Valentine uncut so here's hoping.

Yep, its actually my favorite of the series.....not because its a masterpiece or anything, but I just have more fun with it than the others for some reason.

crabapple 05-27-2009 06:58 AM

I like the fact that they released special editions of the first couple of F13 movies...with a stereo surround remix! I had been waiting for that for a long time ...just bought the Part 2 disc, and it sounds wonderful. Does the movie a lot of good.

newb 05-27-2009 07:06 AM

Jason & The Argonauts was my fav

I picked up that one too been meaning to give it a spin.

CrimsonFiend138 05-27-2009 07:02 PM

Fuck 7 is that the one with the psychic bitch FUCK that. It's good to see a fan of Jason Takes New York now THATS one that doesn't get any justice.

rasobasi420 06-03-2009 09:11 AM

Why is everyone putting part 6 at the bottom of the list? I think it's the quintessential Jason movie. The best aspect of Jason is that he's a large, mindless, undead killer. Parts 4, 6 and 8 really show him in his glory, without the useless gimmicks (i.e. Space, 'Carrie', 'not-Jason cop out', etc.).

Here's my ranking:

4
6
8
3
(remake)
2
1
Freddy v Jason
10
5

chaibill 06-16-2009 08:38 PM

I just watched FT13 2009.
I was liking it in the beginning but i think the lighting was too dark. I wanted to see the sets better. And there was no good close up or extended shot of his face. Why do hours of make up and not to a face shot. And what happened to the girl that killed his mother ? Did they say she was killed later? i may have missed it.
Had some great kills but i don't think they topped some of the other films.
And why did it only get half of one star in the review. Not like it had shitty acting. I bet pieces of shit like House of Wax {Paris Hilton edition} got 2 stars.

And where was the Ka ka ka Ma ma ma. Not nearly enough of the Ka ka ka Ma ma ma,
unless i didn't notice over the metal and bass.

I'm a filmmaker and Friday the 13th The Final Chapter is the reason why. I was 12 when I saw it and it was the first time I noticed the relationship between the movie and the audience and I noticed how the movie manipulated the audience.

As such I'm a HUGE fan of the series but with a caveat. To me, the series ends with The Final Chapter. I never cared for the movie's as a whole or as part of the franchise after part 4. Mind you, I've seen every single one on opening day since part 3, including the remake (save for Jason Lives because it came out the day I was moving), so I have given the series a chance, but I think zombie Jason is a joke and as such the series went down hill, FAST. Part 5 has some great kills though.

Here's how I rank 'em.

The Final Chapter
Part 2
Friday the 13th
Part 3

As for the rest of the series, the only one that has any merit is Jason Lives and for the kills I tolerate A New Beginning, but 7-FvJ are all terrible. To qualify which one is better than the other would be an insult to the word "better" and would be like comparing having diarrhea to throwing up.

Yup a bunch of us have seen it.

Doc Faustus 01-27-2010 07:36 PM

The first one at least had somebody in it with a modicum of characterization.

You can't blame him for the movies being shitty, blame the writers & producers, that's where the blame lies.

mlauzon 01-28-2010 10:50 AM

From what I remember, they wanted Freddy & Jason to be around the same size, which was a stupid thing to do IMHO, they should've kept Jason his normal height.

illdojo 01-29-2010 10:32 AM

Dude, you haven't had pussy.. since pussy had you. It's obvious from your avatar and your horny nerd talk, Zombie. Have you ever been with a woman? Maybe you and thebeyond should hook up. You know... kill two birds with one stone. Don't get mad. I'm just trying to help.

bamahorrorfan87 01-31-2010 09:56 PM

friday the 13th box set

for everybody who own's it is it worth buying and why thanks

bamahorrorfan87 01-31-2010 10:34 PM

just heard it was a bad box set but i love the movies so was j/w

The_Return 02-01-2010 03:24 AM

I have the set...if you like F13 there's nothing major wrong with it really. Supposedly a few of the flicks are cut, but not to any degree that I noticed. If you're really picky about having every precious second of Jason, you might avoid it...but honestly? It's just Friday the 13th, I personally could care less if it's got a few seconds missing.

Lol...same happened with me. I was searching to see if a thread was made and didn't see it, so when I posted this happened to me :). Atleast the mod's are kind about it. Some other sites I'm with basically bi### you out for "not searching".

I LOVE these movies a lot. From Camp Crystal Lake to Manhattan was the greatest horror movie boxed set I had purchased, well worth $70 I paid for it.
I also love the 2009 Revision of Friday the 13th, the new Jason is purely bad-ass, I even purchased a seven inch figure of him produced by Mezco Toyz last year when the movie had first come out into theaters.

crimson_ghost 03-15-2010 01:13 PM

i've not been on this forum in a long long time, hello everyone :),
my favourite is part 7 :D and the new one is fantastic :)
thats all i have to say :)

crazy raplh 03-16-2010 03:19 AM

There all great, bottom line. I saw part 7 and 8 in theater.

Deimos 03-21-2010 02:09 PM

I love this series, even the remake was classic FF13th.

I thought it was, too. I really liked it aswell. I even liked the cross-over film, Freddy Vs. Jason and I thought that the Jason Voorhees in that film, was probably one of the best.

my favorite Jason Voorheeses:
1) Freddy Vs. Jason
2) Jason Lives (Part VI)
3) The New Blood (Part VII)
5) The Final Chapter (Part IV)
6) Part III
7) F132009 (Revision)

horrorsniped 03-25-2010 08:23 AM

Ken Kirzinger. God I love Wikipedia. :P that Jason Voorhees was actually one of my all time favorites, same with the 2009 Reboot of Friday the 13th aswell.
