I know and I appreciate it, but the number I selected was never in any of the updates so I picked it, answered the question, send out a message to everyone on our team letting them know what I took and then get a message a few hours later saying "No, I already took that one!"

Oh well.

Ah, well that's fair enough then.

X¤MurderDoll¤X 11-25-2009 12:29 PM

pretty sure I failed my team horribly.

sorry, I'm dropping out because november and december are too busy and hate-filled for me to be on the site enough. I probably won't be on here until next year so I hope you all have a good holiday. ;)

Its not a team game in the long run. Its every man for himself.

How about a Green Lantern t-shirt and the first season of Big Bang Theory? My step-dad's gifts better get here on time! :p

I guarantee your Big Bang Theory will be delivered on time. My warehouse doesn't deal in clothing, though, so I can't make any promises about your step father's induction into the Corps.

Of course, I could call in a favor or two. Don't worry, it won't cost you anything. I'm a comic book fan myself. Perhaps one day I might need to call upon you for a favor;)

Is it creepy that I got an e-mail saying my order has been shipped right after you posted this?

_____V_____ 11-26-2009 05:54 AM

Winners list has been updated.

Regardless of whether I receive the last 3 answers or not by the weekend, Combat Stage 1 will unroll on Saturday. (will give me a couple days to fight off the flu too)

Be here then, folks!

Tonight.

All hell is gonna break loose.

_____V_____ 11-29-2009 01:15 AM

STAGE ONE - COMBAT LEVEL

Chainsaws -

Ferretchucker - You head for the Bowyer (#9 on your map). As you are a gnome, you smell something wonderful awaiting you there. Dude Guadalupe tries to dissuade you but you don't listen.
As you reach the Bowyer, you find the doors have been securely locked. Looking around, you see a small window near the steps leading to the door. But, above on the door's left, a vent shaft looks open and accessible in the dim moonlight.
Which one you do choose?

Chronogrl - You head towards the Constable Station (#4). A light glows dimly inside. The door is ajar, and soft scratching sounds come from the inside.
At the same moment, you think you saw a shadow disappear behind the Station.
You stop and debate.
The open front door, or follow the shadow?

Straker - A quick walk and you are near the Winter Wolf Tavern (#6). Big casks are stacked near the entrance to the Tavern, and one of the windows is smashed in.
Your psychic senses tell you to follow and climb the casks, which lead to the roof.
But the smashed window looks more accessible.
You choose?

Freak - You separate yourself from the group and go directly to the Town Hall (#2). You enter easily through the open door, and come across rows of benches and chairs arranged haphazardly around you, as if some people had left in a real hurry.
There are doors to the left and right in front of you, and stairs leading to the upper level directly ahead.
You head towards?

Neverending - The Temple (#1) is your destination. The doors are locked but there are stairs on the outside which lead to some unknown first floor of the building.
You peer through a window and see some lights at the far end of the inner temple hall. A stool is placed beside the window. It can be broken.
Stairs or break the window?

Fortunato - The Inn of Four Winds (#5). The door is open, and the bar in front is empty. Tables and stools are arranged around you.
Stairs on the left.
Two closed doors on the right, and a smaller closed door right behind the bartender's section.
Choice of proceeding?

Dude Guadalupe - You follow Ferretchucker, slightly worried, and with your Mace ready. However, he dodges you and gives you the slip. You suddenly find yourself alone in the centre of Town Square (#3).
The pale moonlight glow makes you see shadows on your left and right, but they are moving away from you. You debate.
Left or right?

Wicked Lady - The General Store (#8). Some boxes are set near the door in such a way that they block the entrance. The steps on the side lead downwards into darkness. The store, strangely, has no windows. But you can see a small vent shaft on the top of the door.
Rearrange the boxes and climb towards the shaft?
Or head down the steps?

Bwind22 - The Tanner's (#11). It consists of a big, oversized room with plenty of tanner's supplies and some assorted items.
Three huge boxes are on your right, all locked.
A door on the left.
Open Box #1, or #2, or #3, or head into the door?

Nightmare of Death - The Tailor's (#7). As soon as you approach the dark, eerie and empty hut, a big roll of cloth comes flying out and drapes you. For a few moments you can't see anything and panic, trying to unwrap yourself. Something touches you and disappears.
You pull the cloth off to see a dim shadow disappear into the darkness ahead.
The door of the Tailor's stands open.
Chase the shadow, or go into the Tailor's?

Scouse Mac - You are at the Blacksmith's (#10). A small whispering sound greets you as you reach there, but it mingles into the air and there's sudden silence everywhere.
A rustling sound comes from below you, and you tap on the floor in front of the entrance, and it sounds hollow.
The windows on both sides are broken, and plenty of tools lie scattered on all sides.
Investigate the floor for a possible entry, or enter through one of the windows?

(Contd.)

_____V_____ 11-29-2009 01:55 AM

Machetes -

Angra - Checkpoint #7. A clump of trees all around. You can see something shining on the upper branches of a tree some distance away from you, but on your right you can make out the outline of a bag-shaped object at the base of another tree.
Proceed forward and climb the first tree, or to the right towards the object?

Massacre Man - Checkpoint #2. A dense clump of trees through which you walk without any clue as to what you are looking for.
Suddenly, you stop and stare in front. A dolmen! You feel thrilled, yet sense something weird. You can hear running water somewhere near too.
Investigate the dolmen, or move on towards the water?

Doc Faustus - Checkpoint #9. A tree-house, spread across three thick trees.
But straight ahead, a small wisp of smoke trails into the sky.
Try to get into the tree-house, or walk ahead to investigate the source of the smoke?

Friday13thFan - Checkpoint #6. A fairly large tree with a very thick center. You can make out the outline of a door.
A hole on the ground towards the right reveals to have steps leading down below into the darkness.
The door, or the steps?

Newb - Checkpoint #14. Plenty of trees around which look like over-sized beer bottles. A shadow is moving fast towards you from between them.
At the same time, you notice a small gate to your right, which is the part of a fence. The gate is chained shut.
Wait and exchange greetings with the unknown shadow, or try to smash the chains?

Rayne - Checkpoint #5. Excited at seeing something glinting like gold in the distance, you hurry towards it and don't see the hole in the ground in front of you.
You fall down. THWUMP!!
Its cold and dark inside. A lighted match reveals openings on both sides of you. The hole through which you fell is too high to be reached. A dim light is on your right, some distance ahead. The left side is totally dark.
Left or right?

Demon Seed - Checkpoint #3. Walking ahead, you come across a dry well. It has steps on the side leading down. You look around and see an open clearing between the trees ahead.
Down the well, or towards the clearing?

Roshiq - Checkpoint #1. You hear the sounds of rushing water straight ahead, but a bunch of trees on your right reveal to be hiding a huge golden box between them! What's more, its unlocked!
Open the box, or see where the water is?

Despare - Checkpoint #4. You stand on the edge of a small ravine. Tiny, shiny objects can be seen between the trees on your left, and there's the outline of a hut on the right.
Climb down the ravine and check the objects, or check out the hut?

X¤Murderdoll¤X - Checkpoint #10. Dense outgrowth all around, and trees on your left and right. Suddenly, a shrill cry rings through the night from your left. Someone's in trouble, you think. Your mind tells you to go right, and avoid your instincts.
Follow your instincts, or agree with your mind?

Caenxavier - Checkpoint #12. You walk on till you reach a cliff. Looking down, you can see a small pool of water, sorrounded by trees on all sides. On your right, you can make out a path meandering away from the trees ahead.
Climb down over the rocks to have a drink, or follow the path?

The Flayed One - Checkpoint #8. You reach the edge of the forest, and see an old house. After taking a few steps forward, you suddenly stop. A figure can be seen near the house, moving slowly. The figure walks out of the gates towards the bushes on the right, and disappears.
Check out the house, or follow the figure?

Mr Anonymous - Checkpoint #16. You stand near the huge Gates leading into this forest, and suddenly find out that there is a small hidden entrance on the right side of the Right Gate. The forest on your right, however, looks plenty interesting and promising, and ready to be scoured.
Leave the temptation of the hidden entrance, or check it out?

You all may post your choices in this thread, or through PMs to me, or email me at [email protected], whichever suits you. I will post the results of the outcomes of all your choices (individually or in a group), as they are made and I am online.

The remaining contestants who haven't answered yet, can still send in their answers and move into the Combat Stage.

All the best!

Since the left side is completely dark, I would step into the opening and feel around in front of me to determine if it was a tunnel or just a recess...If it was just a recess, I would feel all along the top, back wall, and floor to see if I could find anything useful...If it turned out to be a tunnel (had no back wall within a step or two), I would not enter it fully, in the complete darkness (not sure how long the match would last, or if I had any more), instead, I would head to the right, enter what I could see was an actual tunnel, find out where that light was coming from.

Don't want to make any unneccesary noise...

Straker 11-29-2009 05:43 AM

I'll climb the casks and head for the roof.

ferretchucker 11-29-2009 05:59 AM

If I use the window I'm almost certainly immediately exposed to what's inside, and I don't know whether I want that. Then again, I could easily get trapped/ stuck in the vent. However, at least I should be able to observe without being heard.

I choose the vent.

I'm going to check out the treehouse. It might be a trap, but the chance of treasure and a good vantage point to check things out from outweighs the risk.

Good logic. But you forgot one thing.

Rayne feels around the damp darkness on her left and takes a step towards the opening. To her horror, she finds no ground under her stretched left leg. Too late! She has put her body weight forward and falls, face-first with a loud cry, on a damp, dusky floor.

The cry attracts the attention of something big and murky near the roof, and it moves slowly towards the fallen figure.

Rayne checks herself quickly and feels relieved at no apparent broken bones on her body. The ground beneath her feels squishy, and her senses tell her she is not alone in here. Reaching for another match inside her belt, she lights it and lifts it up. What she sees freezes her blood.

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...lack_widow.jpg

An enormous, mutated Black Widow covers the black cavern from the floor to the ceiling, and stares back at her.

Use your staff to beat it back, while you try and get back into the opening from where you fell?

Or use your Special Ability - Fatal - to create it's worst fear? Remember, this will take away 2 Sanity Points permanently. Choose.

Demon Seed climbs up on the side of the well, and steps gently on the first stone step. He peers down at the second step and slowly places his leg on it, testing it. Once he feels its firm enough, he moves forward. Down he goes into the well.

When things become totally dark around him, he lights a match in the process of taking the next step. As if in response, a low growl greets him from near, somewhere just below him. He stops and looks down.

A huge pair of fangs snarl back at him, which belong to some sort of a zombified Lycan!

Demon Seed tries to take a step back, but doesnt find the last one and stumbles. Somehow regaining his balance, Demon Seed gulps.

Take on the creature with your mace, or turn around and try your best to get out of the well? You do have a Special Ability - Brawl - which might cause plenty of damage to the creature, but you will lose 2 Strength points everytime you use it. Choose.

Roshiq ignores the box, thinking it to be too tempting for it to be some sort of a concealed trap. He walks forward and comes out to a long stretch of rocks and sand, and sees a river some distance ahead of him. The river looks peculiar, with the water emitting a strange, yellow reflection all around. Roshiq moves forward to investigate, and almost immediately feels pulled into the sand.

http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/m...9017edited.jpg

He yells once, but can't stop his left leg from getting trapped between two, huge metal clamps which snap shut tightly, eating into his leg's flesh. Roshiq screams in pain.

Roshiq is trapped!

Sorry Roshiq, you are trapped on the sandy river bank and must wait for someone to come and help you.

He reaches the spot and peers down at the forest floor, between the small shrubs. They look small and round, and emanate a bright, golden reflection. Despare reaches down and picks one up. It is a gold coin!

Despare's heart starts racing. He looks around at the several scattered gold coins and runs around in glee, picking them up. After he has about 7-8 coins in hand, a slow murmuring sound on his right perks his ears. He stops abruptly and looks towards it.

Good reasoning.

Ferretchucker looks around for something to grab onto and feels a dent on the wall. He places his left leg on it and gets a firm grip, then jumps upward and grabs the vent's side to pull himself up. He tries to wriggle himself through it, but his shirt's side gets stuck on the vent's handle and restrains him from moving forward. The closed space all around prevents him from turning around or for reaching for his stuck shirt. He tries to wriggle himself free and fall back down from where he came, but to his horror he finds himself stuck!

Ferret, you are stuck in the vent. You must wait for someone to come and free you before a creature of the night finds you. Wait and pray.

A lighted match reveals a small empty room with stacks all around on the walls. She takes a step forward, and the floor gives way below her!

Chrono flails her arms and legs as she falls heavily on a dusty floor. She groans and gets up slowly, and lights another match. It was a trapdoor, she thinks. Stairs lead away from her towards a door on the right, and steps are on her left which head towards a dimly lit cellar.

Stairs or the cellar? Choose.

Bwind looks at each box carefully. All of them are locked with huge, heavy locks hanging on them. He tries some keys which he has with him, but none of them fit. He then looks around at the walls for possible keys, but none are there. He feels around on top of the boxes, and finds a small dent on the centre. It has a key in it!

Excited, Bwind pulls it out and puts it in the lock. Its a perfect fit, and Bwind turns it. The lock clicks open with a slow groan, as if it hasn't been opened for centuries. He lifts the top, and slowly throws it back.

A strange glow fills the room from inside the box. A small bottle is placed in the center, which has some type of swirling smoke-like contents inside it. The contents give off a bright glow of long streaks of silver, and Bwind picks it up slowly. With trembling hands, he opens the cork on top and peers inside.

The silver smoke releases into the air, and a figure hangs suspended in the air in the middle of it.

Slowly flapping its wings, the figure bows its head towards Bwind and flies forward to sit on his shoulder.

Congratulations Bwind, you now own a FAIRY! She is called Reedshimmer, and has powers both good and bad. You will find out what her powers are in the coming stages.

Proceed and open another box? Or leave the other two boxes and head towards the door? Choose.

Check the boxes.

He climbs it and comes into the central room of the tree-house. The moonlight shows some small tables and chairs, and some items in the corner. Two doors on either side are closed. A balcony behind Doc reflects some more items thrown around it.

Investigate the room and the balcony? Or go through either of the two doors?
Choose.

(Contd.)

Readying my weapon and cautiously investigating the balcony.

vampire-zombie mutation eh.....so we're talking the undead dead. Maybe I'll just high-tail it out of there.....don't think the dual guns will work.

didn't somebody say "he who runs away, lives to fight another day"?

Wow, V. I'm geeking out over this RPG already. Thanks for organizing it!

Well, presumably the stairs would get me out of this mess... But if I wanted to get out of this mess, I wouldn't have followed the shadow at all... I go into the cellar, hoping to get closer to the shadow or to find some goodies in the cellar of the station... Or get some action; this warrior wants a FIGHT.

hmm,I think I'm going to find a place to hide.I don't think I'm ready to take on one of the toughest opponents in the game....(bad experiences) trying that with WoW ......not a good idea,I'm not the greatest runner either.

Two closed doors on the right, and a smaller closed door right behind the bartender's section.
Choice of proceeding?

Smaller door, carefully and quietly.

Brilliant game now it's in it's full swing V, I used to do this kind of thing with my friends when I was younger.

And it's strange, though I'm stuck and am relying on somebody from my team (or another, if there are any samaritans out there) to come and save me, I am strangely happy that my reasoning was correct.
