I'm going to see The Creepshow in about 4 hours. I'm supe stoked for seeing them but there are about 150 bands there today yayy. so excited.

I'm seeing them again in July at Hotrod Hootenanny, and then hopefully in August at Rue Morgue's after party.

7/20 - Ween @ The Stir Concert Cove - Council Bluffs, IA
They played a killer set....It was an 21 and over outdoor event... Man, it was fucking HOT....like 96° and I was drunk as a skunk. Needless to say, I had a slight hangover today.

The Mothman 07-26-2008 08:20 PM

I might be going to see the fucking Meatmen!!!

The Mothman 08-24-2008 01:47 PM

Saw the Meatmen. single greatest live performance I have ever witnessed. giant 6 foot wooden dicks shooting confetti into the crowd, Tesco Vee is the man.

newb 08-24-2008 08:03 PM

I went to a couple of gigs this week, I always forget to write about them here.

Thursday night I saw Swervedriver play at King Tuts, the venue was really a bit small for there sound and I had to give up my spot at the front of the stage for somewhere near the middle of the room to get good sound. It was a great set though.

Last night I went to see Robert Forster. He was one of the two song writers from the Go - Betweens. I almost missed the start of the show. I called the venue at about 7pm to find out the band times and they told me there was one support and Robert would be on around 9, but this info came from some one in the restraunt so I phoned back at 10 to 8 and get told there is no support and Robert is starting at 8pm.

Lucky I live near the subway and I was there half way through the first song.

It was a great set as well, he played lots of his old Go -Betweens classics and mixed in with old and new solo material. The set went on for 2 hours and he is a man with a very dry wit which fits perfectly with his music.

Just got back from my 2nd Alice Cooper show...easily my favourite artist of all time, and there is NOTHING like seeing him live. PLUS we had front row seats, which makes it a million times more intense - close enough to see his makeup start to run

Nobody can put on a show like that man, it's just beyond description. I was a little disappointed that he didn't do I Never Cry this time, but the rest of the show was more than enough to make me forget all about it.

Some highlights:

- He sang a verse of Woman of Mass Distraction directly to my girlfriend.

- He threw "diamond" (hah) necklaces into the crowd during Dirty Diamonds, and we caught one.

- One of his guitarists got pissed at me 'cause I was taking pics of Alice and not him...he made faces and upset hand gestures at me the whole show.

- I'm Eighteen. I dont care if he's closer to 80 these days, this is probably his best song live. Just...damn!

His opening act surprised me too - Vancouver band called Econoline Crush. Hadn't heard of 'em before, but they rocked; I was super impressed. Their frontman was a lunatic, great showman for sure. Obviously picked up a little bit from ol' Alice.

Just a great, great show all around. The man is always touring - if you get a chance to see him, DO IT. I'm sure a bunch of you have already at some point, but if you haven't...it's an experience like no other.

missmacabre 10-18-2008 09:13 PM

I totally saw alanis Morissette last Saturday. She's pretty hardcore live. Mostly a crowd of lesbians making out and when she sang Ironic she sang "Meeting the man of my dreams and meeting his beautiful.....husband."

Only in Canada.

I went to see Mogwai in Edinburgh last Tuesday night. I jumped on a bus after work and headed over there, we had a few beers at the Black Rose Tavern ( some metal/punk bar) and then headed to the venue.

The played a good range of songs spanning over their career includeing some of the best parts of the new album. They even played "like Herod" which blew me away.

It was one great night.

The Mothman 10-30-2008 01:16 PM

Buncha bad metalcore bands and 1 or 2 good death metal bands.. at least i got to beat some scenesters senseless.

Disease 11-27-2008 04:25 PM

I went to the "Rememberremember" album launch on Sunday, great instrumental music, a ten piece band in hand...

The Mothman 12-02-2008 05:31 PM

Saw the Misfits last night, pretty good show, got really up close and personal at the end, Jerry grabbed my arm in the crowd and he signed my shirt, unfortunately some fucker wrenched it out of my hands and i never saw it again.

CryptKeeper13 12-02-2008 09:23 PM

The last concert I went to was Lamb of God, Killswitch Engage, Devildriver, and Soilwork at the Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan. So it's been a while... but great show regardless.

Edit: I take that back I just remembered that I sawUnearth, Bury Your Dead, As Blood Runs Black, My Children My Bride, and The Destro(I think that's what they were called) at the Headliners in Toledo, Ohio. Not a bad show but obviously not all that memorable.

The Mothman 12-08-2008 10:19 PM

Gwar
single greatest live show ive ever seen. best theatrics ever, a lot of work went into it. Im soaked in fake blood and sweat as i write this. people saw me on the streets walking back after the show and shouted 'GWAR!!!' out of their cars. what a blast that was, definitely see them if you haven't yet.

Elvis_Christ 12-10-2008 03:44 AM

Awesome! Fuck you get to see some mean shows over there dude.

CryptKeeper13 12-16-2008 09:01 PM

GWAR was fun. I saw them at headliners in Toledo awhile back and and got covered in fake blood, semen, puss, etc.... and you're right. Live they are hard to beat. But on the way back from the concert we got pulled over by the cops for speeding and we were all covered in blood and the whatnot and in the backseat 2 girls were passed out. He shined the light in and looked around and asked me to get out of the car at which point he asked me to explain myself. I told him we were coming back from GWAR and he said "oh... well then just slow it down" and he let me go. That's right GWAR got me out of a speeding ticket.

Damn...that's quite a long trip to see Maiden. I saw them once back in 1988 on the Seventh Son tour. I was 14. They play insanely tight live. Their stage looked like snow covered mountain tops with an ice age type of theme.... It was killer!

Have fun dude!!!
