Two of my all-time favorte movies.

The 2005 version would be in my top 3.

alkytrio666 04-25-2006 04:07 PM

Bride of Frankenstein (1935)- 9.5/10

Like I said in "Modern"- the best of the Universal monster pictures, definately my favorite.

Actually the Hungarian film Drakula halala (1921), aka The Death of Dracula, was the first adaptation of Bram Stokers Dracula.

It actually doesnt have much in common with the supposed source material...the name of a character, thats it. It's about a music teacher that is tormented by a mental patient.

It does have more in common with the vampire character "Dracula" than just the name. He does live in a castle and claim to be immortal. Mary does repel him with a crucifix and his 12 evil brides when he tries to marry her during a black magic marriage ceremony. Later, he tries again to acquire her through the powers of hypnosis. True, it's not Stokers story "Dracula", but there are enough similarities between the Dr. and a vampire to be considered, IMO, the first adaptation, but not the closest telling of the story "Dracula".

The movie is definatly worth that much, but dont get ripped off. That's like spending $20 for the original Night of the Living Dead...the $20 DVD is probably pretty good quality, but you can get one nearly as good for $5. Check out some bargain bins, it's public domain and very common.

Thank you, my friend. Just got your PM. I'll look out for it cheaper.

Yet another testament to how crappy the stores around here are, Ive never seen M. Ive asked at Futureshop, Blockbuster and CD Plus...I might have to break down and get it online.

One of the creepiest movies ever, and in some ways I consider it Peter Lorre's best performance...

...naw, how can I say that. That goes to Casablanca. Or maybe Arsenic and Old Lace. Or- oh nevermind.

But anyway, it's worth it!

Hi dudes and dudettes (it's a long story), just noticed this. Nice idea might i say. Anyways the last classic i saw was Night of the Living Dead in colour. It suits black and white better though. Brilliant.:D

Don't get me started. There is no reason NOTLD should be available in color. No reason. They might as well just find George A. Romero and piss all over him.

Mark of the Vampire (1935)

Excellent.

mark4520 05-21-2006 07:16 PM

hmm one question.. do you rip apart the other threads with movies from 1970s and newer or just new posters? so if you could stop bein so anal retentive i would appreciate it.

alkytrio666 05-22-2006 10:40 AM

I was just trying to guide you, teaching you so you could post this in the right thread section next time, but then you accused me of stereotyping classics as mainstream, so I bit back.

And the fact is, I'm 100% correct.

Have a nice day.

If you would bother checking the description of each forum head, you will be better off. This is a classics movie forum, ergo movies uptil 1969. Thats why you see a lot of threads which include LATER movies, moved to their rightful places. You better realise it before your posts get moved too.

I would suggest "Last movie you watched" thread in the "Modern Horror Movies" forum for your next post. And yes, alkytrio is right...

defining a film as classic to completely subjective, so it's a lot easier to split up the film section by when the movie was made.

so endeth the lesson..
