Well he did right Halleljuah, I can't believe I flicked onto BonJovi covering it a few night sago on tv, it was fucking horrible as most cover versions are, but my faveorite is John Cales version...

as for everybody knows, out of the 50 or so songs on my mp3 player for the last week and a half this is one of them, so I've been listening to it a lot lately.

He is playing here in a month or so, I'm thinking of going but it depends on if I'm working or not as tickets are 50 quid...

John Cale - Heartbreak Hotel

John Cale's version of Hallelujah and is actually quite beautiful. I enjoyed it far more than Buckley's (everybody loves Buckley's version, but I always preferred the more creepy Cohen or even the more drawling Wainwright over the melodic Jeff). Good recommendation. I honestly have a soft spot for singer/songwriters who can tickle those smooth ivories...

His version of Heartbreak Hotel is pretty spectacular. I feel as though it belongs in some kind of absurd film noir - Not Lynch, but definitely Lynch-like.

Makes me think of this band, thier first e.p was called sounds of satanic youth, but they had so much feed back i think they were referring to sonic youth...

Magic Dirt - She Riff, also a cool picknic at hanging rock video and Adalita is uuuurrrr... delicious...

I thought that Muse had a lot of potential with their first US single, Time is Running Out. But I found that album repetitive with vocals that were a little overwrought and cheesy. As for their newer stuff, Knights of Cydonia in particularity, I want it to rock so incredibly badly, but the chorus just gives way to bad 80s band throwback.

...

And now for something completely different...

Talking Heads' Road to Nowhere

This would definitely fit somewhere on the ironic soundtrack of the movie they eventually make of my life.

You're referring to the "No one's gonna take me alive?"

I want to show this vid,

It's at the Oxford Tavern Petersham, it was my local for around 8 months, but at that time it was a titty bar and where the stage is was pool tables and a jukebox, it was a venue back in the seventies and 80's but obviously is again since I left town...

It's nunchuka superfly born out of the hard on's...

That's local all right... I think I'd rather be there than watch them on YouTube. Knock back a couple of pints, knock up a couple of babes - you know how it goes.

The quality loses some charm though Youtube.

And now for a nice little one-hit-wonder that makes me want to have violent sex. Redundant? Maybe. But when this song started getting play, it really made me happy.

I remember this song, I kep hearing it and trying to find out who did it heh. The video is wickedly delicious and really fits the song.

I'm sure most people here have heard this oldie but if you've never heard Iggy Pop's "Search and Destroy" give it a listen. It was a really nice day today and I was driving around with this one blaring...
