Elvis................

bwind22 01-10-2009 09:56 AM

ACDC vs Elvis? Yuck. They're both incredibly over-rated if you ask me, but I'll go with Elvis just since I enjoy going to Vegas & he's all you hear there.

Really?

Have you ever seen Bruce Campbell performing? :)

ferretchucker 01-10-2009 10:52 AM

Elvis Presley.

I think they're good but they are definitely overrated.

Despare 01-10-2009 11:49 AM

Elvis, easily for me. I was just listening to the original Little Less Conversation and thinking about how ahead of its time the song sounded.

As far as the Beatles go, I voted for them because I thought their music was more varied and had more depth than the Stones' stuff. To each their own right?

_____V_____ 01-10-2009 11:50 AM

Beatles and AC/DC overrated?

...all I got to say to that is...

"riiiiiiiiiiiiight..."

I like the Beatles, but ACDC sucks. And even though they haven't had a big single in years, the hard rock station up here still insists on playing their shit from the 80s and early 90s like twice an hour. Fuckin' maddening.

CryptKeeper13 01-10-2009 12:02 PM

A little less conversation a little more AC/DC if you please...

Doc Faustus 01-10-2009 01:12 PM

Elvis. AC/DC is iconic arena rock, but Elvis helped forge rock as we know it.

Geddy 01-10-2009 01:22 PM

Elvis.....

Exactly what I have been telling certain Elvis haters ;) Elvis gets my vote.

Doc Faustus 01-10-2009 02:28 PM

Anybody who doesn't think Elvis can rock should hear Polk Salad Annie.

monalisa 01-10-2009 03:53 PM

Elvis.

I don't really like AC/DC...too screechy. Kinda like nails on a chalkboard in my opinion.

Disease 01-10-2009 05:18 PM

Funny for Elvis to even contend in a band tournament....

What's up next? Crosby V's Stills V's Young V's Nash?

friday13thfan 01-10-2009 05:28 PM

ACDC. Never liked Elvis

hmmmm - AC/DC's Black Ice (2008 release) debuted at #1 in 29 countries including the US, UK, Canada, Germany, etc. etc. The album has sold about 2 million in the US alone and is still in the top 15 in the US after about 11 weeks in the charts . . .

alkytrio666 01-10-2009 07:59 PM

Elvis.

I can't stand AC/DC.

Are you basing this off of heresay and the stuff you hear on the radio? Have you ever given albums like Revolver or Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band a spin? I just can't see how you can listen to the breadth and musical ingenuity on albums like that and say it's just hippy music or bland love songs.

The_Return 01-10-2009 08:04 PM

I like AC/DC, but compared to the King? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHA

I don't care that he isn't technically a "band", Elvis is the be-all and end-all of rock 'n roll. No questions asked.

Gotta agree with the Penguin on this one.

Disease 01-10-2009 10:22 PM

This is not the way it goes.... Acca Dacca won it ages ago...

Bub the Zombie 01-10-2009 10:47 PM

AC/DC

Elvis should not even be in this tournament, because he is a performer and not a band per se.

If he is in and goes ahead to win over AC/DC, then other performers like Buddy Holly, Ray Charles, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Aretha Franklin, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder, Simon and Garfunkel, Tina Turner, Johnny Cash, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Neil Young, Frank Zappa, David Bowie, Van Morrison, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton, Paul Simon, Isaac Hayes, George Harrison, even Carlos Santana stake a claim to be included.

And rename the tournament to something else other than Tournament of "Bands".

ferretchucker 01-11-2009 02:30 AM

Angra 01-11-2009 04:05 AM

As long as a Kraken doesn't win. ;)

Doc Faustus 01-11-2009 08:00 AM

The kraken can play eight guitars!

_____V_____ 01-11-2009 08:13 AM

Dont forget, the kraken is a walking-talking band in itself!

Deep sea harmonies, and coral rock 'n roll!!

No, Ive never picked up a Beatles album, I've never had a desire to. Ive seen the Yellow Submarine movie, heard all the songs on that album. meh. my next door neighbors as a child, their favorite band was the Beatles, so I'd hear it all the time. We (my next door neighbors and I) had a little childhood rivalry. The stones were my thing and the Beatles were theirs, and we'd always dis on each other about it. To sum it up, it doesn't feel like Rock and Roll to me, it doesn't click with me, it doesn't make me feel exited inside like most R&R does. Every time i hear "All you need is love" with that chant 'love, love, love" I cringe. I can't stand it. and Yellow Submarine? it sounds like a children sing-a-long song. Revolution is the only song by them that I almost like. The Beatles sound like a pop band from the 60's, which is what it was. imo it doesn't have the heart that the Stones do. sure, its got social and political significance, whatever, so does Bob Dylan, who whoops their ass.

Posher778 01-11-2009 09:11 AM

I think AC/DC won! I'm not counting but i'm assuming by people's assumptions that I want Elvis to win, even though he's a douche cunt.

Yay for lame 80's bands winning everything! WOOOOOO!!!!

Looked to me like Elvis had more votes... no counting in a tournament?

You should have listed Elvis as Elvis and The TCB Band, like Bob Seger would be Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band or Bruce Springsteen would be Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band.

But he didn't and so Elvis should be disqualified for showing up to the tournament with out a band.

The Flayed One 01-11-2009 10:46 AM

I'll vote for AC/DC. Brian Johnson was the greatest front man ever.

_____V_____ 01-11-2009 11:14 AM

And so, ladies and gents, Elvis has left the building...

ferretchucker 01-11-2009 11:15 AM

Cut Posher some slack. A tournament isn't an easy thing to organize.
