He's about to make pizzas...I told him to open all the doors cuz it's about to start storming hardcore...

He stepped over and looked...Then he said, "Trilobite"

VampiricClown 08-10-2006 01:04 PM

crabapple 08-11-2006 08:56 AM

Trilobite

Also: I LOVE THE AMINALIMENT @ LOVE . COM

AMINALIMENT is always has been my favorite thing. I love everyone choosing between the animals, it's funny

Ammonite wins! Huzzah for Cephalopods!

Carcharodontosaurus

Vs

Giganotosaurus

http://home.no.net/paleo/carcharodon...tosaurus_1.jpg

Both were bigger than T-rex, but had smaller brains and were more primitive.

bloodrayne 08-11-2006 09:00 AM

Carcharodontosaurus

Cuz it looks like a Raptor...And Raptors rock hardcore:cool:

crabapple 08-11-2006 09:02 AM

Carcharodontosaurus because he looks like he's doing a little dance. I'm sure that's what he is doing.

AUSTIN316426808 08-11-2006 09:02 AM

The overside raptor with the ridiculously long name.

Oh, and 3-0 charchy so far.

stygianwitch 08-11-2006 09:12 AM

Vodstok 08-11-2006 09:15 AM

No love for the gigonotosaurus...

"I'm just a giganoto, and everywhere i go, people know the part i'm playin'"

Miss Olivia 08-11-2006 10:15 AM

Carcharodontosaurus because it's fun to spell.

azathoth777 08-11-2006 10:19 AM

I choose Carcharodontosaurus because
Giganotosaurus sounds like something a 5 year old would make up.

Vodstok 08-11-2006 10:23 AM

well that was sweep....

staying with a sharky theme...

Heh...Not MY 5 year-old...When Seri was 5, she could name over 100 types of dinosaur and tell you at LEAST 2 facts about each of them...As well as whether they were herbivores, carnivores or omnivores...That was her thing

She even had toy dinosaurs that she took with her everywhere she went...When we were in New York, she took all of our pillows in our hotel room, stuck them in the dresser drawers, and laid her dinosaurs on them so they could 'sleep'...She was only 4 then :)

Well, she's certainly an exception. I loved dinosaurs as a kid, but I think I would have named one Giganotosaurus .

Megalodon

crabapple 08-11-2006 10:48 AM

Megalo.

But I object to the thread taking this direction because everyone knows that dinosaurs are not real aminals and never really existed.

btw I luvs me to copy and paste Carcharodontosaurus

i think i;ll do it again Carcharodontosaurus

A Crawdad

VS.

A Mantis Shrimp

http://www.cabrilloaq.org/images/mantis.jpg

Phalanx 08-14-2006 08:08 AM

The crawdad...I've heard good things, and it looks somewhat like something we get here called a Marron, also very nice.
Besides...shrimps aint got shit on prawns, baby.

The Flayed One 08-14-2006 08:09 AM

Mantis Shrimp

Vodstok 08-14-2006 08:12 AM

Looks like exactly the same thing. basically a crayfish, a freshwater cousin of the lobster. Verypopular in the south here, especially Louisiana.

you probably knew this, but im feeling like an ass. Prawns and shrimp are the same thing. the words can be use dinterchangeably, but prawn is usually used in reference to certain sizes and species.

I should get a nitpicking award. And Cheeba will probably pin it to my ass with a nail gun :D

crabapple 08-14-2006 08:13 AM

That crawdad looks pretty powerful. But the mantis shrimp looks like it's getting ready to kick some ass...I go with the

MANTIS SHRIMP

Vodstok 08-14-2006 08:20 AM

Mantis shrimp supposedly have the most advanced eyes in the animal kingdom. Weird, huh?

Phalanx 08-14-2006 08:21 AM

Prawns and shrimp are the same thing
Can't REALLY argue with that. Yeah, it's mainly about sizing and breeding. But yeah, what you'd call a "prawn" here is easily much much bigger than the shrimp. (I think scampi technically comes from the same family too) Yup, we get pretty good 'uns here.
Yeah, I've heard all about the crawfish thing in the south, I was thinking about making the gumbo recipe that came with my dvd copy of "skelaton key"...could anyone tell me how that one rates?

Vodstok 08-14-2006 08:25 AM

Havent read it som i can comment on it, but one point ot remember with gumbo (i screwed this up huge in the past)

Make the rice sperately from the gumbo and pour the gumbo over it. if you do them in the same pot, you end up with a nasty pasty mess.

Phalanx 08-14-2006 09:41 AM

ha, I can imagine...
Back to the shellfish thing...it's funny (probably just me) but I've had marron, scampi, lobster, blue swimmer crab, mud crab spanner crab, and a few other shellfish here and there...yet to me, nothing comes close to prawns.
Preferably tiger or king variety (I dunno what you'd call the same thing over there)...but yeah, as stupidly expensive as shellfish can get, I just fine myself thinking it's overrated.
Prawns are great.
However, in terms of fish...the opposite. I like most fish, but I have to say that when you get into the tuna/salmon/swordfish proce range, it gets better.
As for uni/bi/valve moluscs, they're all much the same to me - Although abalone is quite brilliant and IMO just about worth the price, if you can bring yourself to buy it.

Vodstok 08-14-2006 09:46 AM

hmmmm... Ive always wanted to try abalone (as gastropod ;))

Ive had escargot and was pleasantly surprised.

im a big fan of salmon and tuna. I had swordfish prepared at a lace called Legal Seafood once, andi twas great. i tried to make it, and decided it was a dish better prepaired for me, not by me. (i know the new englanders here know legal seafood)

im a big shellfish fan, i havent met one i didnt like yet
