Probably because Zombie isn't a Giallo flick. I wouldn't put Suspiria or House By The Cemetery in that category either. But fair enough the Italian stuff isn't for everyone :)

... in fact a lot of it is just plain awful!

Oh really? I thought that Suspira was considered a quintessential "Giallo" film, though I can see how House By The Cemetery isn't one of the genre...

Maybe I'm just pigeon-holing all Italian directorial work as "Giallo"...

(well, not ALL Italian work... Just all Argento and Fulci...)

Suspiria is more of a supernatural/witchcraft flick to me. Sure it has elements here and there of the Giallo films but is a completely different creature.
