That's an apt comparison, as it does deal with themes like bodily transformation/horror. It's not handled in nearly as sophisticated a manner as Cronenberg's films, but then again, not very much is. For what it's worth, I thought Uzumaki was a good film

I really don't see any similarities with Burton though...

i think the old man in the elevator was my favorite- most effective scene

Firstly:

people floating = creepy!

Secondly:

I loved how they did that scene, I think it's one of the most effective scenes I've ever seen in a horror movie. I was on the edge of my seat and every second was pure torture haha I really wanted her out of that elevator as soon as possible :D

Another part I really liked was at the beginning with the old woman approaching her. She couldn't make out the old womans face and you kept expecting her to come into focus as she got closer and closer. I think it was a good way to introduce the idea and it was both creepy and suspenseful.

I dont know how hard you are on subgenres and such stuff, but I'd still like to say Battle Royale.
If you dont think it fits in the horrorgenre, ignore this post :P

Still Ringu, but I have a softspot for Shohuns Sadism although its more of an exploitation movie I guess ...

Definitely, Tale of Two Sisters, very brilliant on any aspects! The acting, editing, directing, the story. Wow!
