A book I just read made the case for the ten most 'important' (which is clearly different than 'best') horror films of all time. They were:
Dracula (1931)
The Thing from Another World (1951)
Psycho (1960)
Night of the Living Dead (1968)
The Exorcist (1973)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
Halloween (1978)
Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Scream (1996)
The Sixth Sense (1999)

It made a pretty good case for them - though I dont' really think Silence is horror and I never cared or the Sixth Sense that much.

This isn't the finalised list, but a little sample of what the final product will be.
I have nothing against you WaitxUntilxDark but i think its stupid that you will change your personal favorite movies just because some people give you a hard time about it. I mean This post is here for you to post your favs, not others peoples favs.

I never told him to change 'em I just gave my honest opinion of 'em.

of course I can't be sure about this but it seems like he just saw that show on VH1(100 scariest movie moments) and got way too influenced.

Damn - I missed "phyco" - but if its not as good as boogey man then I'm freaking happy that I missed it.
