Its pretty good not an out and out horror, but its does satirise many horror fan stereotypes very well!

i was really not very interested by this movie. there was nothing truly "creepy" about it. oh no, the doll talks to her and she listens, not really creepy or even interesting. the movie really didnt make sense, because she has a glass eye, she only likes certain parts of other ppl? Is her vision really that poor in her good eye that she can't see the rest of the person? All in all i guess i was just very disappointed.

It was because her mother told her that if you can't find a friend, then make one, so she just twisted that concept with her own devious little mind.

I really enjoyed this movie. May is my dream girl :D .

The music was very good and the horror was subtle for the most part. The production design was also very good considering their budget. Obviously Taxi Driver was an influence on this film (they even say so in the commentary).

May is definitely one of my favorite movies. :) Mainly because she reminds me alot of myself. Too bad May isn't a real person...I think I'd get along with her really well. :p

May

Last night on HBO Zone they showed the movie May. I had never seen the movie. After reading about it many times in Fangoria i wanted to see if but I kept putting it off for whatever reason. I decided that eventhough I had to get up early for school today I would stay up late and watch it. I must say that I was not disappointed. It was a great film. I'm happy that I stayed up to watch it. Angela Bettis was great. Lucky McGee is a great young writter/director. I hope that both of them go on to great stuff in the future. This was just a creepy ilm. I am now going to go out and buy the film.

May is very good debut, I love the way it laughs at the tipical horror audience and most of them don’t notice …

Agreed. May is a really terrific film.

It's so unusual for horror movies to have characters as well realized as May or Adam are and all of them film's action and violence grows out of the characters and their motivations, rather than just the necessity of plot or high concept.

That's even rarer in horror.

Can't wait for McKee's next movie.

Yeah, I was putting it off too for a while, but I was in the video store and I heard the clerk tell this old guy "That's a horrible horror movie. If you want to see a good scary movie, rent May. It should be in." Well I just so happened to be standing in front of it so I swiped it before the old man got over to it and checked it out.

It was pretty great. It was really original, I thought. The audience pities the killer more than they condemn her. I've also read a lot of people who say that all of May's quirks (about the hands and talking to the doll and just being misunderstood) were really sexy.

The only thing that I thought was bogus about it was that contacts don't straighten strabismus (lazy eye). It's a weakened muscle in the eye and there's no way that wearing a contact lens will straighten and strenghthen that muscle. The patch she wore over her other eye as a child, though, would. But I suppose they'd use that as a ploy to get her out of those glasses, which I thought were hot. *shrugs*
