TNT JACKSON (1974). Campy actioneer of one Foxy Mama (PLAYBOY'S Jean Bell) going to Hong Kong searching for her brother with all kinds of crazy things happening. OK for what it is with an early performance by Stan Shaw (BOYS IN COMPANY C, THE GREAT SANTINI, FRIED GREEN TOMATOES) and one tough scene of Jean fighting a whole room full of thugs in her undies! **1/2

DRESSED TO KILL (1980)>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>SPOILERS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> > This Brian DePalma film has SO MANY things going for it...a wonderful score by Pino Donaggio, impressive camera work (especially the Museum scene), many actors I like such as Michael Caine, Nancy Allen, Keith Gordon (became a director in later years, especially for DEXTER), Dennis Franz (hard to believe He was ever that trim or had so much hair) and Angie Dickinson, who is way sexy in here, Body Double or no. The big problem is there are SO MANY references to PSYCHO...an unhappy Woman taking a desperate and foolish step for happiness, a battle of wills between Men and Women, if You will, Showers playing significant part in the story, an abrasive Authority figure, Amateur detecting (although Nancy and Keith are Einstein compared to Vera Miles and John Gavin) and a tidy wrap-up at the end to explain the why's. Also, the spilt screen was outdated by SISTERS (1973), so why use it again? Despite my quibbles, DTK is a good film, but You will probably like it more if You haven't seen PSYCHO. *** |

I don't mind the similarities to Psycho actually. It seemed and felt different to me. |

IT'S ALIVE III : ISLAND OF THE ALIVE 1987
Monstrous babies are sent to live on a deserted island. 5 years later, they have a reason to make their way back to the mainland. The movie was a laughable but fun. Loved Michael Moriarty in it. |

JACKSON COUNTY JAIL (1976). After problems at her Hollywood job and catching her Tom catting husband (Howard Hesseman::shocked::!), Yvette Mimiuex decides to start fresh in New York City. Sadly, instead of flying, she decides to drive cross country and once she gets into a Southern state (naturally), is when the trouble starts. Yvette is pretty good here, especially in the pivotal jail scene where she really is fighting back and some nice appearances by Robert Carradine and Mary Woronov. Also, close to 20 years before winning an Oscar for pursuing THE FUGITIVE, Tommy Lee Jones is a fugitive! *** |

Maniac Cop - I have fond memories of this one. Based on those memories, I expected a higher bodycount, but still fun. And seeing Richard Roundtree and Bruce Campbell is always fun.
Also left wondering about the voice of the guy playing the mayor. Is that his real voice or was he asked to put on a caricature of a NY accent? |
