HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (1982). Probably, more than any other version, this shows just how precarious life could be in 1400's Paris (Dirt, Disease, Religious subterfuge). Leslie-Anne Down is gorgeous as Esmerelda and Derek Jacobi shines as the obsessed Priest, but it's really Quasimodo who is supposed to be the main subject of interest and sadly, Anthony Hopkins just doesn't cut it. Makeup isn't all that great and it just seems He is rehashing Charles Laughton's 1939 characterization. Also, a Suck Ass ending.
Worth a look if You like the story, but the Laughton version is the one to check out. Small roles by Robert Powell (ASYLUM) and Kenny Baker *R2D2 himself!). **1/2

This one is super underrated. Could had been better, but still a good one.

THE BEAST IN THE CELLAR 1970

2 old biddies come to terms with their past as the village they live near is being terrorised by a beastly killer.

Quite charming, really.

I quite enjoyed the remake also from the first part. They remade the second one also, very low budget, but mediocre at best.
