The Possession (2012)

I am so gutted, That I missed this cause of the PG 13 Ratting.

I didn't not expect this movie to be that scary or creepy but dame this movie was really good for PG 13.

I liked the fact the movie dose not drag at all in any scene, start of in first 15 before the movie get into busy with strange things

There were some really good decent creepy scenes in this movie, The X-Ray scene was really tense and creepy. I loved that .

There did have really good atmosphere in some scenes that some of scenes tiny bit more creepy!

I enjoyed how the story came to a end, I Did not expected that to happen in the very last scene
at all, I did make me Jump.

The acting this movie was outstanding from the whole cast

7 out of 10

The Grudge.

I watched the original Japanese version a long time ago. I held off on the remake just because Buffy is in it and I wanted it to be awesome. It's pretty good as remakes go. It's not as good as The Ring which is probably the only remake that is on par if not a bit better than the Japanese original. I think the foreign nature helps the impact of the original movie. Still this remake is no where near as bad as The Eye or One Missed Call.

^^^^^^
Which one did you see before Ju-on-The Curse (2000) or Ju-on-The Grudge (2002)? before seeing the US remake

Bigfoot County (2012)

http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...DEzxOawQyF6370

Swear, I don't were to start with this movie as the movie just fellt

.................................................. .....................

.................................................. .......................

.................................................. .................................

.................................................. ............................................

.................................................. .................................................. ....

^ That, (The hidden meaning in that was, the movie just felt Blank from start to end.

I felt the movie stayed on one stage and never really mood forward at all,
the bunch of scenes of nothing put together.

Not one scene was scary or creepy at all, not even one small bad scare scene to make Jump or even blink,

When I thought this movie could not get any worse,

it goes into some kinda of hostage movie, some of tge cast end up going missing, you have no idea were they go.

I don't know, Maybe I missed cause, I wasn't really paying too much attention to the movie near the end.

And the end of the movie, made me laugh out so loud, it's was so. so, SO, Badly done.

The acting this movie was very wooden from the whole cast, I Did not care one person in this movie at all, I found all very annoying

2 out 10

Next movie!

Bigfoot: The Lost Coast Tapes (2012)
http://t2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:A...aQKIlI1PXgb10M
Yeah,. yet another Big foot movie, which was made in the same year, almost came out at the same as well.

I am Clad I saw the other before this one.

I actually enjoyed one much more then Bigfoot County (2012), This had bit more of plot to it and even filmed better.

I found the start of the movie very funny, there were really cool funny jokes that made me laugh out loud.

There were very likable characters in this movie, you care for at times,

the movie dose not break any new grounds in this found footage genre.

I found that this movie flowed really well, with a lot of action in the movie, there were some good decent images of creature, I say!

But we never fully scene the creature at all but we do see bit of the creature, we never really know if a who or what.

There some decent effect in this movie, which I really liked and there were some bloody moment in here and there but don't expected a bloodbath or anything really gory as this movie, very little of it.

I maybe I liked this movie more then I should cause of Bigfoot County (2012), which is much worse then this movie.

I going to give this movie 4 no, I give it 5 out of 10

Last night I watched Triangle (2009).

Pretty dang good surreal horror/thriller with a heavy time shift element a la Groundhog Day. Recommended.

The night before I watched Eden Lake (2008).

I'm a huge fan of human atrocity horror with a penchant for extreme violence. This one's not über-extreme, but IMO packs a heavier punch than others that rely entirely on violence. Really good. I'm still reeling from it.

The night before I watched Bedevilled (2010).

I had read mixed reviews, and I agree. Although I really enjoyed it, there's not a whole lot to like, as much of the movie just made me uneasy. The good guys are not particularly likable, and the bad guys, including old ladies, just make you sick. Situationally, pretty rough, but that's the point, and for that it's pretty successful.

I could go on and on, but those are my latest three...

I adore this film, I think it is quite believable and what happens at the end I found to be refreshingly realistic :)

The Impossible (2012)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...psb8ae6b09.jpg

Made by much of the same crew from 2007 Spanish horror masterpiece THE ORPHANAGE; this is a very heart-wrenching moving tale (based on a true story) about a family's utterly horrifying experience in 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami while they were on holiday vacation at a tropical paradise resort in Khao Lak, Thailand. Just came to know that the tsunami was recreated with a mixture of digital effects and real water surges using miniatures that were destroyed by a huge wave created in a water tank in Spain. The director J.A. Bayona later admitted it was "crazy" to commit to working with real water rather than a computer generated wave, but he wanted the story to be authentic. And that meant Naomi Watts and Tom Holland, who play mother and son Maria and Lucas, were gulping water in a massive water tank for almost five weeks (Source: Wikipedia)! And the film really quite successfully recreates the frightening nature of that natural disaster and also amazingly portrays the true horror & unimaginable ordeal that people go through while they somehow survives such a high scale catastrophe. The cast was perfect as they delivered quite a few tear-jerking moments. Overall, one of the few realistic disaster movies seen in years.

I agree. The end of that movie still gives me chills thinking about it. People are scary.

Last night I watched Bug (2006).

There were two or three moments in this movie that got a vocal rise out of me... Sort of a semi-painful groan-laugh, if that makes sense. I can't say that about a lot of movies. I found some of the crazy ramblings a little tedious, and Ashley Judd's character's over-eagerness to believe the nuttiness required some suspension of disbelief, but overall pretty psychologically horrific. 7/10.

IDK. thought this movie was really boring and very predictable. Kinda made think of a stupid version of The Thing. Thought it would be better being a ghost house film...still dumb and boring.

The Woman In Black (2012)- It's a slow burning movie but I really liked it. I have yet to see the original one so I cannot compare but on its own, I liked it. Daniel Radcliffe is excellent in this and it's good to see that he didn't get typecast.

The Pact

Movie was actually really good. A lot of action in the bringing which I wans't expecting at all. (which was good) It kinda made me think about paranormal activity without the found footage. Really kinda kept you on your toes. The last 30 mins throws the movie into a completely different way and the twist was pretty cool. Def recommend this movie.

It makes you feel like it's a needless sequel, made to cash in on the success of the first film. But it is actually fairly enjoyable, with a few appreciable sequences. The direction is a bit mediocre though, and the film slightly lacks the raw grittiness and punch of the original. Overall, recommended for Neeson/Besson/action fans as a good time-pass.

Now here's a sequel which was unnecessary, and also didn't make sense if you go by the logic of the series' storyline. Watch PA2 and this one back to back and you will know what I mean. Except for the lovely Kathryn Newton there's nothing much to write home about in this one, unless you are a fan of jumpy scares and nonsensical plotlines. In fact, there are places where one feels the makers are trying to make a mockery of the audience (the Shining cycle scene, the fake pull from behind scene, etc.)

And to add to all this, there's #5 coming next year. Oh boy...

Zero Dark Thirty (2012)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...pscabebdc6.jpg

After Ben Affleck's ARGO, this is the 2nd Oscar-nominated film of 2012 which is based on a CIA's one of the major successful operations. Argo is about a rescue mission during 1979 Iran hostage crisis & this one is a dramatization of the trail resulting the covert operation that killed Osama Bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan in 2011. Besides this little similarity in the plot content, strangely there are some other similarities also regarding the dramatization of these historical events. Both the films were quite simplistic in nature without delivering much as an intense-entertaining Hollywood drama/thriller. Both the lead in the films came out kinda empty or blank in character development area with somewhat a dry or mechanical form of script. Moreover, the very interesting subject matter of the films required gripping story progression which were clearly lacked in these movies. Overall, I won't be interested to spend my time on these movies again. Watching a film about tracking down & killing the world's most infamous terrorist...I expected a lot more, not something like a pseudo-documentary. Overall, little better than Argo though.

Harold's Going Stiff (2011)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...pscb26f1e6.jpg

This beautiful indie Britt Zombedy comes with a refreshing take on our tired but lovable sub-genre of 'living dead'. This lovely slow-burn, somewhat metaphorical tale of old age & friendship investigates "Onset Rigors Disease", a mystery illness turning men in the north of England into something resembling bloodthirsty ghouls. The character on title, Harold, a lonely old man whose gradual transformation into something sub-human might just be arrested by the love of Penny, a dedicated home care nurse looking to put a little zing into her love life. And then there are hilariously inept vigilante squad whose members are more brain-dead than the monsters they're hunting...overall, this is a pretty fine original gem that will gradually catch more attention from the genre fans in coming days, I believe.

Highly recommended; particularly to our HDC veterans...NE, Newb, Doc Faus, Hammerfan, __V__, CG, Ferox and Angra. I think you' guys will at least like it for sure.

Very impressive. If you thought Rhoda Penmark was mind-blowing in The Bad Seed, wait til you get a load of Isabelle Fuhrman in this one. Definitely recommended, although it tends to get slow at times, but doesn't take away from the superb narrative and the outstanding acting of the 12-year-old.

Very odd ball War film about 3 British Paras behind enemy lines. Stars David Hemmings - reminded me a bit of

The ABCs of Death (2012)

Way better than I expected (unlike that Cast of Eastenders vs Vampires crap) - Enjoyable violent non-sense as a

Ghosts of Georgia (2013) I not going to say by it full name as it sound stupid

I really liked this movie, I found this movie a lot more creepier then first movie,

There was some really good scare scenes in this movie that last long then one Second, there not there just to make you jump.

There some really strange effect in this movie, which I am not sure what to think of at the moment.

Actually liked the fact this movie dose focus on, the same old route, Kid seeing a strange things,

most of people in the movie see thinks, I liked the fact they do believe way before the end, which I think was nice change.

I liked how the plot came to end was really good, there were really good tense moment in this movie.

The ending was fitting end, Nice and sweet ending to this movie.

The acting from everyone in cast was really good and the some of effect were really good in this movie.

A lot better then I thought it would be,

I going to give this sequel 7/8 out of 10

Not a total mess, hence I gave it 2 stars.

But where to start? Obvious nods to Paranormal Activity, The Grudge, a flawed premise, a too short running time to explain everything, and a hurried climax. And to top it all, the ridiculous closing scene. There are a few good scenes scattered far and between (a superb opening build-up), but overall, a weak effort. Not to mention the leads, who do a brilliant job trying to look handsome but lack acting skills.

I understand that it's a low-budget film, but there's a difference between having a good premise and flaws in execution, and having a flawed premise and compound it further with flaws in execution. Saying any further might add spoilers, but why would someone suffer through the entire film for something they weren't originally a part of?

Avoid.

Last night I watched Deadgirl (2008).

Not bad. Overall, pretty disturbing, but I guess that's why we watch this stuff, isn't it? My main gripes are that, kinda like Bedevilled, the main characters made me pretty sick throughout, so I had a hard time liking anything about them. The overall premise made me feel dirty for watching it, moreso than, say, a rape/revenge movie like I Spit On Your Grave. And then, squeezing green pus out of the girl's bullet holes and then implying they'll be used for sexual purposes... That is too much, even for me.

On the plus side, the exploration of human psychology and the limits of morality was intriguing. It was interesting to see the jocks utterly disgusted at first, as they should be, only to be goated into participating in the atrocious festivities. And the dream-like sequence with the dead girl snarling and popping out at the viewer -- brilliant. I jumped in shock, and was also left with goosebumps. Awesome scene.

The night before, I watched Splice (2009).

I enjoyed it. Good concept. Sort of a Frankenstein monster idea, but with human/animal mutant experimentation instead of re-animation, and let's just say the main characters get a bit more up close and personal with their creation than Frankenstein did with his monster. Good acting and enjoyable from start to finish.

The night before I watched Devil (2010).

Since M. Night Shamalama-ding-dong was discovered to be a mere mortal, his output has been pretty heavily scrutinized. I actually liked The Village, which many hated, but hated The Happening. This movie was only given one star by Comcast/Xfinity. After watching it, I am baffled as to why. I loved every minute of it.

7/10.

http://i1299.photobucket.com/albums/...ps53738f07.jpg

I also watched Let Me In (2010).

I haven't yet seen the original, Let the Right One In, and of course, watching the American remake before watching the original is like watching The Ring and calling yourself a J-Horror fan. I had no choice because my mom doesn't like subtitles, and she was in town and agreed to watch some horror with me.

I don't regret it. This movie was so dang good, I don't care if the original is better. Great story. Great acting. I was emotionally invested with both main characters, especially the bullied kid. The horror moments were few, but really effective.

My only complaint is a couple scenes with not-great CG effects, but I can forgive that, especially since it was mainly just some animated silhouettes, and not full blown Phantom Menace crap.

9/10.

Atraxi 02-05-2013 09:43 PM

Mama- First let me just say that the best person to go to the theaters with is the kind that gets scared easily. We had just sat down to watch the movie and something moved in the corner of the screen and my friend jumped and threw popcorn all over the place. The rest of the movie was similar to that with them screaming and jumping, while I burst out laughing every time. Thank goodness there were only two other people in the theater.

I personally didn't find the movie to be very scary. The scenes that were supposed to be scary were done in a pretty stereotypical horror movie fashion and kind of gave away the fact that something was supposed to scare you soon instead of just going for it. I don't know if I'm explaining that very well. Anyway...as for everything else in the movie, I really liked it. There were some moments when you just thought,"Yeah, I don't think so" (like the fact that the uncle/boyfriend got out of a coma, left the hospital and went straight to walking around in the forest) but it's a movie so what can you say? The feel of the movie, the monster, the story and the cinematography was all really, really well done. The creepiest part of the movie was the unnatural movements and voice of the "Mama monster". The ending of the movie has a twist which I really liked and it helped to separate it from many other similar horror movies.

Last night I watched The Girl (2012).

I've read that this movie about Hitchcock's obsessive relationship with The Birds and Marnie leading actress Tippi Hedren is historically inaccurate, or at least exaggerated. Given that some of the basis for the story comes from Hedren's personal accounts, I have to believe that it's at least loosely rooted in fact. However, "Alfie"'s spiral into near-insanity as portrayed in the movie's final chapter, to me, bordered on caricature, and is hard to buy into. Given that the rest of the film, save for a few good creepy moments -- Hitchcock throwing himself on her during a limo ride, his (implied) intentional shattering of the phone booth glass while she was inside, his 5-day marathon assault on her with real birds in the attic scene -- was actually pretty uneventful and not particularly tense, it's hard to give this movie much of a recommendation. It was interesting from a historical perspective, but average as a drama or thriller. As a Hitchcock fan, I may have enjoyed it more than I expect most would, but that's not saying a lot.

5/10.

You liked it? I thought for the most part it was ok, but the twist was a little silly and I saw it coming.

Nice, fun watch. Recommended, even though the lead actor/director stays wooden throughout.

Too drawn-out, too conversational and a too-slow ¾th. Not what I was expecting from the name/premise. Brad Pitt has a lengthened cameo of sorts and appears long after (only reason to watch the film, if you want to). I say skip it.

Hideo Nakata's (The Ring) name drew me to this. Guess it just wasn't my cup of tea. Stopped it around the 20-minute mark. If you have to watch a darkly depressive drama, Requiem for a Dream is the way to go. Pretty much unbeatable in this particular sub-genre.
