1 - Do you remember when you first watched it? Theater, VHS, DVD? DVD, actually. I didn't get the VHS of this and kept postponing it till I rented the DVD. 2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it? Oh yes! Apart from being touted as Argento's masterpiece, the music by Goblin was already a superhit. I read about it in film mags, saw bits and pieces of it on TV shows, read about it on the Net, etc. A lot of feedback, actually. 3 - How was the viewing experience? Fantastic. The use of colors by Argento is brilliant, and the harrowing Goblin music! So reminiscent of Indian film music, specially the suspenseful tracks. It did not disappoint me at all. Loved it. 4 - How many times have you rewatched it since? 5-6 times since then. 5 - Any memories associated with it, that you wish to share? Bought Goblin's audio CD shortly after my first Suspiria watch. Someday I might get them to sign it for me. A distant dream. ---------------------------------------------------------- 1 - Do you remember when you first watched it? Theater, VHS, DVD? VHS. A fine, grainy print which added to the atmosphere. 2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it? Of course! Who hasn't heard of the milestone of our genre?! 3 - How was the viewing experience? Fantastic. It surpassed all my expectations. Right from the opening scenes to the lockout inside the house, the tension build-up, the ultra-creepy child zombie scene, and the shocking finale! That one shot fired in the ending made me jump back in my chair. Poor Ben. 4 - How many times have you rewatched it since? Lost count. I don't know...around 30-odd times, maybe more. 5 - Any memories associated with it, that you wish to share? None, except that if this scenario became real someday, you know where it all began. |
1 - A VHS tape that my parents had. I remember being fascinated by the cover, and then finally watching it when my cousin was babysitting me. 2 - No, I was too young. I kind of remember my parents telling me it was too scary and violent for me to watch. 3 - I was just so in love with watching anything horror. I watched it with my older cousin, and we both were so into it. 4 - I couldn't even begin to guess. 5 - So many. That first time at my house. Pretty much every Hallowe'en season since I was a kid. Random late night TV broadcasts. |

A late night horror movie show on cable here in Australia called the graveyard shift, I taped it from tv that night and still have the tape. 2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it? I don't recall knowing anything about it 3 - How was the viewing experience? great, I was 17, I was only beginning to understand the suttle undertones horror movies had and my girlfriend at the time loved dissecting horror with me. 4 - How many times have you rewatched it since? maybe 20 or so, I watched it a lot at first, but now save it for every couple of years. 5 - Any memories associated with it, that you wish to share? It was the first movie I saw that made me want to know how it was made, and I managed to get a copy of the the "Night of the living dead movie book" which explains eveything Romero and co went through prior to making it and how they managed to put it together. better than a behind the scenes featurete, highly recomended if you can get your hands on a copy. I still rate it as the equal greatest movie ever ever made, along with taxi driver. __________________ |

Had a hard time with the accents, was bummed there was no closed captioning, but LOVED the movie! 4 - How many times have you rewatched it since? I own it, so multiple times. I watch it at least once a month. 5 - Any memories associated with it, that you wish to share? Can't think of any. |

I just kept hearing how good it was 3 - How was your first viewing experience? I loved it. 4 - How many times have you rewatched it since? Actually i've only watched it the one time 5 - Any memories associated with it, that you wish to share? I'm not a big fan of werewolf movies. I like the obvious ones, The Wolfman as well as a lot of the older ones, American Werewolf in London, The Howling and not so obvious, Ginger Snaps and i've never really been that excited to watch one but this one was amazing and is now one of my favorite werewolf movies maybe even my favorite. __________________ |

DVD. 2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it? Plenty of feedback, from HDC itself and from the internet. Mostly positive, some glowing. 3 - How was your first viewing experience? Superb. Right from the opening sequence till the climax, it had me glued to the screen. 4 - How many times have you rewatched it since? 4-5 times, because of my love for all things werewolf. 5 - Any memories associated with it, that you wish to share? It's a different take on the age-old lore, and that's why it's a fantastic watch. Any horror fan worth his/her salt should watch it at least once during their lifetime. Highly recommended. |

2 - Oh yeah, I had seen the fake documentary about the Blair Witch on Sci-Fi and was really excited to see it. 3 - I really liked it; it freaked me out quite a bit. 4 - A few. 5 - I was 13 or 14 when it came out, and it was a big deal among me and my friends. We all thought it was great, and I even recall making our own spoof version or something with a mini-cassette recorded we had. |

2 - No, no outside friends or media influences (in general) 3 - Good, and was overjoyed by the twist 4 - 3 or 4 times 5 - I was glad this film rejuvinated teenage interest in horror films at the time |

2- Not really. I was 10 or 11 years old, and had seen the trailers, but obviously wasn't able to see it in theaters. 3- I watched it at a friend's house, really late at night. I remember being absolutely horrified by the opening scene. 4- I've seen it probably 3 or 4 times since. 5- That first time is one of my favorite horror movie memories from my childhood, watching it on VHS in a dark room with some friends, all huddled around the TV, completely shocked. I hadn't seen anything as intense as the opening sequence at that time, and it really freaked me out. |
1 - Do you remember when you first watched it? Theater, VHS or DVD?
It was at home with my Dad. He just randomly put it on one day which i thought was weird since he doesnt like horror movies. 2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it? I had heard a lot about it especially about the ending 3 - How was your first viewing experience? Did you see the twist coming? I loved it and i actually guessed wrong about the ending. 4 - How many times have you rewatched it since? Many times. 5 - Any special memories associated with it, that you wish to share? For some reason this movie always sticks with me, maybe because of the age i was when i watched it or that i watched it with my Dad but i still always remember it fondly and is one of my favorite horror movies. |
I managed fortunately to see Scream in the cinema's when it was released with a schoolmate bunking off school. I remember what a joy it was because I must have been 15 or 16 when I saw so I'd seen enough horror films at the time to get it and me and my mate absolutely adored the opening sequence. As much as I love it I find it more of it's time and it's something I would watch only for nostalgic purposes now-I doubt I'd really enjoy it enough to revisit it too often though.

2. Nope. I wasn't watching that many horror movies around the release of Scream. I think I heard it in passing but I knew nothing of the story. 3. I thought it was great. How it broke down the horror rules was new to me. It had cameos and nods to horror films. Freddy in the school with the sweater. And I didn't see the twist at all. 4. Tons of times. I watch it when it's on demand a lot. 5. No special memories really, other than the "I'll be right back" line. It's crazy how much that line is used in horror movies. |

On TV, a late night Creature Feature showing. It was creepy as hell. Still one of the best endings ever... and the reason why the remake falls short. The ending on the remake removes all ambiguity, and without that doubt, it doesn't have the creepy factor of the original.
|
Oh! I've never seen this version. I thought the one from the 70s was the original. I'll have to add this to my list. I've only seen the 70s version twice. Once when I was young. It freaked me out. Again a few years ago. It was still disturbing.

1. I remember it because I was around the age of 9 and I rented it from Movie Time on VHS. 2. I did my grandma had shown me a lot of 1950s horror that she loved. When I told my dad I liked it. He suggested Psycho because it was his first horror movie. 3. The viewing experience was great. I know a lot of people my age that don't appreciate films just because they are Black & White, but because of being introduced to them I love them. I thought it was scary and awesome. 4. I have watched it about five more times after that initial experience. 5. I was really susceptible as a kid to being fearful and yet I loved horror, go figure. I was more wary when I took a shower. That lasted for a little bit. Some others that were listed: Scream 1996: 1. I first watched it when I was 11. I again rented it at Movie Time on VHS. (I miss that in a way) 2. I had no prior suggestions to watch it. I had already seen Nightmare of Elm Street and knew of Wes Craven. The cover and description intrigued me when I was browsing the video store. 3. My experience was good. I had a better one when I re watched it the second time with my cousins and we were home alone in a dark living room with a lot of windows. We really freaked each other out. 4. I have watched it more than 7 times since then. 5. It embraced my love of the genre because it was aware of the genre in itself. Loved that concept. Halloween: 1. I was around 7 when I first watched it on TV during Halloween. 2. I had heard about it and always had a tradition of watching horror movies on Halloween even before I really got into them. I was young so watching them on TV meant that they were more censored to my parents. They watched them with me and I loved that thrill of being scared. 3. My experience was great because it was actually on Halloween night after I went trick or treating so that made it so much better. 4. I have seen it every Halloween since then. 5. It was really the first slasher movie I had ever seen, and I really did not even know it at that time. I just found it scary each Halloween. The music was very memorable and built so much suspense. Poltergeist: 1. Watched it on TV during around 6 or 7. 2. Both my parents had seen it in the 80s so they told me I should watch it. 3. I had a good experience because I watched it alone, makes it creepier. 4.I have watched i more than five times. 5. I really found it scary, especially the clown part. I though the concept was great too when I watched it as I got older. Jaws: 1. Watched it on TV with my dad when I was 6 or 7. 2. Its one of my dad's favorites. 3. The experience was cool because I was watching it with my dad. We liked the same movies. 4. I have seen it a lot and I don't know how much. 5. I liked it a lot. Dun duh dun duh dun duh I can hear every time. The Omen: 1. I think I was 12 or 13 and I saw it on TV. 2. I knew my parents had seen it. 3. I found the experience to be enjoyable. 4. I have watched it a few more times. 5. I really liked it. I thought it was a creepy film. " Look at me Damien, It's all for you!" is the creepiest part to me. |

2. Nope. I just knew it was a Carpenter movie and one of the best horror movies. I knew nothing going in. 3. Awesome. It wasn't a let down. 4. Tons. I'm talking hundreds. Watching or listening. 5. So many good things I use from this movie. I whistle the music. Use many of the lines. It's a movie not to be missed for horror or movie fans. |
1 - Do you remember when you first watched it? Theater, VHS or DVD? VHS
2 - Did you get any feedback (from friends or media) prior to watching it? No 3 - How was your first viewing experience? I was pretty young and it was one of the goriest movies I had seen at the time, so I was impressed! :) 4 - How many times have you re-watched it since? Probably... about 5 times or so. 5 - Any special memories associated with it, that you wish to share? Yeah, my dad rented the movie for me, and it kind of marked the point in time where he started to accept my taste for horror. |

2. I don't think so. 3. Perfect. Watching this for the first time is one of those particularly special horror-related memories from when I was young. It was definitely a big part in contributing to my life-long love of horror films. 4. Countless. 5. Watching it with friends, especially if they haven't seen it before. |
Certainly a very interesting movie experience. It wouldn't be wrong to say that after numerous rewatches, the film has firmly etched itself as one of my top 10 horror films of all time. One of the near-perfect remakes ever made.

2. I had heard plenty about it, and I remember always thinking the cover art looked so cool. 3. It was my 12th or 13th birthday, and I had a bunch of friends over. My mom let us rent a bunch of horror movies, and this was one of them. 4. A few. 5. Not really, other than that first time. It was a lot of fun watching it late at night with a group of friends. And, movie geek time, a couple of years ago I found the out-of-print Criterion DVD at a second-hand shop. Watching that with all the cool extra features was great, too. |
