they pay you if you live in the u.s. and want to go to nursing school. The grant I applyed for pays for tuition, books, rent and usually there is a little money left over. plus you don't have to pay it back. seems like getting paid to me.

Cool. I'll have to check it out when I get home. My bands called The Returns we do a Melvins type thing crossed with a bit of metal and punk. I haven't got anything recorded well enough to show to you yet but when I get onto it I'll let you know.

Wickerman 03-15-2005 06:26 PM

Sounds like a good mix. My drummer seen the Melvins live this summer. He said they were so fucking heavy.

Check out my music, tell me what you think. even if you hate it.

Yeh I missed them last time they came here..... I'm real gutted about it. They are super fucking heavy and sludgey probably one of the most underatted bands of all time. Yeh I'll tell you what I think.... it sounds good how you've decribed it and I dig a bunch of your influences (except the Radiohead thing *shudders*). But yeh I'll let you know. How long have you guys been together for?

3 years... I've met them when I was a senior in highschool.

Some people hate Radiohead, too wussy for you, eh? I think they rock ass. We really don't sound like radiohead.

I guess they've just been overplayed to me I'm kinda in the same boat with Tool. I just find stuff like Radiohead a bit to bitchy/moaning for my liking. 3 years that's pretty cool we've only been together about 6 months but we've got a bit of material and have had a few gigs. Our drummer lives out of town so we don't get to practice as much as we should but we still scrape by and we've had a good reaction to our music so far.

I think you have to want to make something of yourself in order to do.

thats actualy 'sort of' done in a couple of rough areas in the Uk...the kids get given money if they actually bother turning up for school  the authorities don't realise the money most likely goes towards underage drinking and drugs.

some of the parents are just as bad, unemployed so they rely on the kids getting the money aswell as their handouts.

Well, when i was on maternity leave it was me and 2 children, under 4 for a year. Let me tell ya i ran back to work. That would be the fucking day i rely on the "system". There is help i get for being a single f/t working mom from the government, but it has no basis for whether i work or not, that's for sure.

They know mommy has to work if they want nice things. It's showing them that being independant and self-reliant, opens up doors. Or i hope it does, lol.

you're one of the hard working good ones :)

it's the slackers who have no intentions of improving their situation, or just don't care.
