Re-Animator

Forever regretting taking so long to watch this. Wish they didn't end it so abruptly but I absolutely LOVED it. Classic story, effects, characters. Thank you Netflix for having it. Oh and the theme is highly entertaining, but I don't know if it's a rip off of Psycho's or not... It certainly is more upbeat.

LOVE ME DEADLY 1973

Certainly not as twisted as the poster implies but it is bent. A beautiful young woman yearns for but can never replace her dead father. Her yearnings lead her down a very sick path.
It was worth watching.

From Beyond (1986)

Stuart Gordon directs this wonderfully bizarre and disturbing adaptation of the H. P. Lovecraft short story. For the most part the specials effects makeups hold up very well (although some not as much as others) and there is a lot brutal gore throughout. I really like the use of color and lighting when The Resonator was turned on. Jeffrey Combs gives a solid albeit over-the-top performance as the protagonist. Ted Sorel is massively creepy as the film's villain and his transformation scenes are mind blowing. Barbara Crampton in a dominatrix outfit plus Ken Foree. I highly recommend checking this out.

Since you liked it so much you should see From Beyond. Same sort of style, same actor as the protagonist, another Lovecraft film, etc.

DARK HERITAGE 1989

Based on Lovecraft's "The Lurking Fear". A newspaper reporter spends the night in a mansion trying to find the link between it and a rash of monstrous deaths. It all seems to be tied in with the former owners of the mansion who disappeared without an explanation.
