I worked with the wife of the location manager at the time and knowing I was a film guy (plus I designed a web page for him) - he got me Bronson's prop business card from the movie with Bronson's autograph on it. I just remembered that I had it now .. |
The Hidden (1987)-Starred Kyle McLachlan (Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet) and Claudia Christian (Babylon 5, Maniac Cop 2). It was pretty good I enjoyed it- nice little sci-fi horror with the aliens taking over bodies and taking anything they like which is a good pop at consumerism.

Also has the guy that was the sherrif in Twin Peaks- Michael Ontkean. |
Him and Kyle McLachlin were great in Twin Peaks great show. Lin Shaye was in it as well with a small part-she was excellent as Elise in Insidious.

Just watched Mario Bava's 'Baron Blood'. I know this was a hit in its day but I don't think it is among Bava's best, however it isn't his worst either. It felt like a Hammer movie. Baker's role was clearly written with Vincent Price in mind, and I think Joseph Cotten was somewhat miscast in that part. It's as though he tried for a Price impersonation in his performance, likely at the direction of Bava. I felt the direction and pacing were a bit clumsy for a Bava movie. Coincidentally I recognized the little girl as the same actress who would play the hot, spooky usherette in Demons years later, I am a bit proud of myself for catching that. To the movie's credit, the location they filmed at, that castle, was terrific. Elke Sommer was hot, but the real star of this movie was the castle.

Watermelon Man (1970)
http://people.uncw.edu/smithms/ace%2...gle/o87370.jpg Oddball comedy/drama movie by Melvin Van Peebles, made a year before his more famous Sweet Sweetback's Baadasssss Song. This film had some great ideas but it lacked a little in execution. It is definably a product of the times too. Mantan Moreland makes an appearance in one his last film roles. Keep an eye out for Blaxploitation regular, D'Urville Martin too. |
Herman Raucher?
He wrote Summer of 42 he also wrote a cool little horror novel i really like. Both Summer of 42 and the horror novel (i can't remember the name) are the only 2 books that ever made me laugh out loud while reading them. |
Frogs!! Very pleasant to watch while half asleep.

Snowbeast (1977)
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Vyv0MADtZ2...tr_232x365.jpg Wanted to curl up with a good snow-themed horror today and this did not disappoint. A very unsettling Yeti. Won't be venturing out in the elements anymore today! |
