Dead Time Stories (1986)
http://www.weirdwildrealm.com/filmim...imestories.jpg I like most anthology films but this one was not up to par. Good if you are looking for classic 80's cheesy horror but not frightening. Disappointing since I had hoped it would be a lost gem. |

Threads (1984) As a child of the Cold War, the threat of nuclear holocaust was a constant part of life. Seeing this film for the first time, even so many years later, left me stunned at the idea that this unthinkable scenario, never before had I imagined in such gritty detail, was not all that far off from becoming a reality. Hard to believe, and yet, not that hard. |

Nothing like a good, old-fashioned 80s actioner to cheer up the mood after a dull, depressing day. Ah! That lovely 80s theme music! Reminded me so much of the A-Team TV series. Nostalgia at it's peak. |

Threads is such a quality TVM, hard watch, but well worth it!
Anyone who appreciates Threads should give 'When the Wind Blows' a watch.... It's a beautifully tragic nuclear holocaust cartoon. It was shown over here in the UK back in the 80s one evening over the Christmas holiday (totally inappropriate scheduling) and had a huge effect on me as a kid. Well worth a watch, can be found on youtube too, here; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9aHT-IlkHo |
A local theater does "Retro Cinema Night" on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. This week's edition was "Young Frankenstein". Went last night with a friend, and had a ball. It's still as funny as it was when it first came out (yes, I saw it in the theater then, too!). It was pretty funny to see all the eye makeup on Gene Wilder. Geez, that man had eyelashes any woman would kill for! :D
