Maybe because it's a campy TV movie from the 70s? It's a lot of fun though, so see if you can catch it somewhere.

Just watched Poltergeist, really liked it. My favorite haunting horror movie that I've watched so far. 9/10

I'm 17. I didn't find it scary, but I still thought it was a really fun movie.

The Barrens (2012)

http://i1097.photobucket.com/albums/...dc/Barrens.jpg

On a weekend Richard take his family (in a "get closer" mission) to the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Besides few issues between his new wife & the teenage daughter from the first marriage, it gradually becomes clear that Richard is acting bit crazy lately as he has actually his own problem of having paranoia & delusions about something lurking in the dark of the woods (more precisely...about Jersey Devil!). Along with a good cast, Stephen Moyer delivered a good show on the lead as a psychologically troubled daddy and as a DL Bousman film, it was shot nicely with a good production value, low body count & few off-screen killings.
The thing is there's nothing new in the plot. As you can guess the film tries to play with the viewers about whether all those paranoia & "seeing things" by Richard is real or not and this is no more new to the genre fans. So the story somewhat fails to give anything exciting in the whole package. Moreover, I think the way they portray a huge figure for Jersey Devil in few glimpses, physically it's quite impossible for a creature (with such a figure & shape) to move so fast & swiftly without making much noise in the woods.

Anyway, overall this is a decent film with just another average story.
