The Bloofer Lady 01-16-2015 07:11 PM

THE BUTTERFLY ROOM 2012

Not being a huge fan of contemporary horror, I rather did enjoy this one...once I could figure out what was going on.

An old woman's world falls apart after befriending a sweet young girl. Neither the girl or the old lady are what they appear to be. Barbara Steele is unsettling as the old woman...in a good way.

Ha! ::big grin::

I really liked this movie. Loved the old hag.

THE CONJURING (2013). Had heard good things about this and several actors in here I like, but found this incredibly ponderous and it's a bad sign when I keep looking at the time to see how much longer the film is. My wife enjoyed it very much, but I think this was done better in THE HAUNTING (1963)...fifty years and much less money earlier. **

Wasn't crazy about it either. I didn't see any originality whatsoever. Only cheap jump scares and loud music. ::sad::

There wasn't a single jump scare in the Conjuring.

If it wasn't jump scares what would you call it then?
