I'd never buy something blind. But I go to the theater at least twice a month - which I'm sure sounds wierd to a lot of you.

Thanks

I spend anywhere from $100-$500 a month, depending on bills and such.

I'd say about 5% are blind buys (by my definition, this means movies I've never heard of/know nothing about) Almost all of my blind buys are low budget, direct to video affairs. Usually in the $5 range, giant creature movies. You know, Pterodactyl, Cerberus and the lot.

It's hard for me to blind buy anything, since I spend so much time reading about horror movies.

You get crap sometimes, but I don't mind. I consider my DVDs to be a collection, and I like to complete collections. Just like my Spawn toys. Nobody wants a crappy looking Cosmic Angela figure, but if you want to complete the collection you've got to have her:)

i used to spend a hell of a lot more on dvds and stuff before i got married. now im in college, married, and actually having to pay bills for once, so i dont spend as much. i still spend around $60 on stuff, like i said earlier, but.. we dont have cable tv and our rabbit ears dont get anything in, so basically thats the only way we can watch anything is to buy it on dvd.

when you really think about it - unless you saw the movie with your own eyes - everything is a blind buy..

the first time you see a flick at the theatre - its a blind buy too .. and in the case of my wife and i - a much more expensive gamble (if you're looking at a blind buy in that way) than picking up the DVD used later.

By that definition, probably 80% of my movies are blind buys. I don't really consider it a "blind buy" unless I know very little about it. For instance, if I bought Ginger Snaps knowing only it was a werewolf movie, I'd consider that a blind buy. If I bought Ginger Snaps after reading what it was about and having read a discussion on it here with different view points, I wouldn't consider that a blind buy.

thats the way i look at it .. technically everything is 'blind' the 1st time ..
but i trust my instincts and some of the information i get here.

you, zwoti and a couple of other people have pretty much the same tastes as i so i trust the judgement and advice of some people.

if Bwind says he doesnt like something .. then i buy it immediately :p
