Bit of a numbing pace, definitely not on the edge of your seat kind of stuff, but enjoyable with a few little surprises.

i found this quite slow and strung out too.

This is one of the most interesting, intelligently crafted movie's i've ever seen. The plot keeps you guessing the whole way through and with it's many layers throws you around and messes with your head so you don't know what to think. Great story, great acting and phenomenal directing from Fincher. I loved how different it was from other movies with similar plots. I strongly recommend checking this out.

9/10
.

I admit there's no way you'll know where this story is going. But besides that... Meh..

"Gone Girl" 6-7/10

Dracula Untold (2014)
I didn't mind the different take on old Vlad. With some changes in the script and the addition of lots of blood & gore this could've been a sweet action-horror movie.

THE GANZFELD HAUNTING

Made it about halfway through. Too much cocaine, panties and couch dancing. No horror in that except the waste of a Friday evening.::sad::

So i thought this was going to be a movie about a boy finding out his brother is a serial killer and even though that is a major plot point, it's more about the main character's life and what he's going through. The little brother is a sad misunderstood picked on kid who is completely alone in life. The kids all pick on him, his friends abandon him, his parents treat him like shit, he's terrified to be in his own home, and the only person in his life he thought he could count on turns out to be a serial killer. Instead of a slasher movie we see how the boy is not only affected by the truth about his brother but whats going on with him mentally due to everything in his life. I really felt for the boy in this movie and genuinely cared for him. The serial killer storyline does come to a head with a big payoff at the end that actually does tie everything together if you can put yourself in the boys head and feel what he is going through. This actually could've been more of a drama then a horror movie but there are some pretty messed up parts like the VHS tape Headless he watched and of course the finale. Theres definitely some fucked up shit here but if really get into the kids head, there is a great and tragic story here.

8/10

This is definitely a very good indie feature with a great story indeed! The young actors playing the kid & his killer bro did a fantastic job but still...I'm not complaining, just the thought that came to my mind while watching it was the whole movie could have been 'better' or benefited more if the script, cast & the direction parts were treated by some more professional individuals; as sometime it just felt like bit unnecessarily pulled things slow & made the moments little dull. I can't help but wondering how more awesome it could be if the same story got the film treatment by directors like G. Del Toro or J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage)! The story got all the potential to be the next big thing in Horror arena after or alongside with Let the Right One In.

I wasn't impressed either. I thought it was unnecessarily slow... hardly anything happened. However, I think that when the movie wanted to be scary and creepy, it was.

That is true. Loved the skinny black creature fingers. Competent technique in it's few & very far between creepy/scary moments. Which made it all the more "if I only had bigger budget, or bigger balls" film. How bad did Mike Flanagan want to break into the walls of the underpass tunnel? He keep going there, but never delivered.

---SPOILERS---
'Not seeing it' didn't deliver. And how about this... the scene where the abducted husband plunges his hand into his wife's pregnant belly, which was a dream, that's never explained. Did he want to harm the child? When he's found alive, it should have been revealed. But it wasn't. No time or budget for that?

And after the husband is home, and sees she's pregnant, he gives a confused look, and that's it. That all we get? Budget constraints on this character-driven horror film? There's subtle, & then there's just too brief & not enough. And with budget constraints, there's creative ways to reveal what the creature is, it's motives, etc. Some reviews suggest this is an independent gem because of great subtlety... of what? characterization? This didn't deliver Terms of Endearment characters.

But since it didn't have your suggestions, it was pretty bad?

LOL! "couch dancing"! The horror of a wasted Friday evening. They should just put a big yellow burst icon with the words "Soft Porn" on the box.
