The Road: Quality film. A drab, post- apocalyptic story. It doesn't have a particularly hard hitting or original theme, but it really is a well crafted film. The film really captures the grim reality of the situation. Beautifully shot creating a desolate, grim feel, with some quality post- apocalyptic imagery. Everything within the movie is totally devoid of colour with the exception of flashbacks of the life before, which are cramed with vibrant colours and beauty. Too much of a slow burner to make it an easy one to recommend, but I loved it.
The Men Who Stare At Goats: Thought it was pretty funny. Great concept, packed with funny scenes didn't really go anywhere but it was a fun ride. Plan Nine from Outer Space: Accidently brilliant. |
Darkman (1990). Another fun entry from Sam Raimi, this one definitely has that comic book feel to it, though it was not based on such a series. Raimi's definitive style is definitely apparent here, with over-the-top absurdity being most entertaining. Liam Neeson plays his part with aplomb, and Larry Drake's portrayal of the villain was just as playful. The story was decent, but it was of course the direction and visuals that make this such a distinguished effort. Overall this was quite an entertaining endeavor. Ashe.

The way PR3SSUR3 did the autopsy of this film I have nothing to add about it. It was my 3rd or 4th time watch as lately I have have decided to re watch some horror films that I have seen such a long time ago or whatever the reason as now often fail to remember some parts of them properly. Moreover, just for a personal level of curiosity as now a days I have managing some time for my compilation of "Best Hundred Horror Films that I have seen so far" there are some more films that I think need to watch again sometime soon. Hopefully this project will come to an end (temporarily...as there are still some good number of films that I haven't seen yet & have no idea when I can...like Legend of Hill House, The Devils, Spoorloos etc.:() within a month or two and thinking to start the countdown here at HDC in the last 100 days of this year. |
watched the first part of Philosophy Of A Knife. overly long, boring, and amateurish. didnt live up to the hype at all.

Abominable (Syfy)- 7/10 I'm not sure if this was a syfy original or not, but if it was, it was better than most of them. The monster looked absolutely hysterical, but the film itself was made with almost a Hitchcock style to it. Basically a handicapped man moves back home to the mountains, and his house neighbors one other house, high up in the mountains. He's bored in a wheel chair so he watches the girls that are vacationing in the next door house through binoculars. Add in a giant monster snowman, and it was pretty fun.
Also, if nothing else, most everyone here will think the last 5 minutes are hilarious. |
Jennifer’s Body – Too quipy, not enough of any one thing. Not bad, just blah.
The Box – All the elements of a good thriller, but it didn’t quite coalesce. Pandorum - Who knows? Not good, so I turned it off halfway through. Sam |
The Night Of The Living Dead 90- A fairly decent remake of the original which I love. A sort of new take on the story with a new "Barbara" a more in your face an less helpless version of her character. All around I thought the movie was great but the selling point for me, was Tony Todd acting, he did an amazing job in this story. He brings alot to the character an story in general. Sure theres some zombies in the movie where you can tell there plastic"The Fat Farmer in the house near the start for sure" but thats not really a problem to me. All around great movie I give it a 4.5 out of 5
