Just caught a midnight showing of The Evil Dead. theater was packed, good crowd.

Will resume watching 'The Midnight Meat Train' tomorrow night as Federer playing Murray is on right now, and then Man Utd play Arsenal in the wee hours of the morning (5am). which I will watch after taking a nap after this final ^^

And also watched most of 'Tales from the Crypt', I think this one is called 'Bordello of blood' or something like that.

Warrior (2001). It would be hard not to like a movie shot on location in the desert of India state of Rajasthan and the Himalayas, but this wonderful flick is not all cinematography without any substance. A simple story to be sure, the way in which this tale of redemption is where is strengths lie. With minimal dialogue, our characters instead move this story with action and even subtle facial expressions. Straying away from a Hollywood plot structure, it meanders in a fresh direction in order to find its way home. With subtlety it even ties in some tender idiosyncrasies as beginning comes to end. Of course, the spectacular cinematography was well appreciated on its own accord. Overall a simple and great flick. Ashe.

I watched "Gamer" yesterday, not a bad movie, could've been better.

just watched Dee Snider's strangeland - not sure why i hadn't seen it before. . . and then i watched it and realized it is crap (which is probably why i skipped it in the first place)

It was nice. It had most of the stuff I usually look for in a 70s film - action, gang-ups, wonderful pacy script, bordering on (heck, almost!) exploitation to the hilt, effective performances by both Carradines and Barbara herself was decent. Scorcese really showed his potential with this - considering the low budget and extremely short time he had at his disposal to make this film. I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but a glimpse at the real genius which was to come. Scorcese fans should definitely check this out.

As Far as my Feet Will Carry Me (2001). An extraordinary tale of courage, perseverance, and the strength of the human spirit. Based on a true story, this tells the tale of a WWII german POW's escape from a Siberian prison and his travels across the expanse of the USSR to get back to his family. The story unfolds with a perfect level of pacing, and the characters that our protagonist runs into are heartfelt, sometimes for the worse. That our hero was a soldier for Nazi Germany does not matter here, for he is portrayed as he should be, as a man that went off to fight for his country and was duly punnished for it. The acting was awesome, and the cinematography even more so. An awesome tale of an epic journey. Ashe.
