Antichrist.

Not sure what all the hype was about. Disturbing? Somewhat. Graphic sex? Some. Graphic violence? A bit. Misogynistic? Not so sure about that.

I think that because it's seen as more of an "art film" it got far more flack than it deserved. The sex and violence isn't really much more than you can see in a dozen other more mainstream movies that are released each year. It's just the juxtaposition of said sex and violence with the perceived type of film it is and you get people going apeshit over it.

Would I recommend it? To most people, no. It's just not that kind of movie. But to someone who really digs Lynch and similar directors, most definitely.

Sugar Hill

Blaxploitation zombie film from 1974. As good and as bad as you might expect.

Great theme song though- Supernatural Voodoo Woman by The Originals. I'm trying to track it down.

El traspatio [Backyard] (2009)

http://pics.filmaffinity.com/El_tras...74789-full.jpg

It centers on a young detective (Ana de la Reguera) determined to solve a series of murders committed against women in the northern border city of Ciudad Juarez. Ciudad Juarez is a small town in Mexico along with the U.S. border where women have been disappearing, only to be found later raped and murdered. Though the numbers keep growing, seems like no one really cares. These women come mainly from the poor classes, cheap labor for factories of multinational businesses on the area, and these crimes are, at most, a nuisance to the authorities.
This Mexican movie from director Carlos Carrera focuses on that reality and made a decent tragic drama out of it. The Mexican film academy already selected "Backyard" as its foreign-language Oscar contender for the 82nd Academy Awards.

Never used to be a regular fan of the original series but only Hot Baroness outfit made it indeed pretty worth watching.

ZOMBIELAND

This movie has a huge amount of hype behind it so when you go into the theater don't be afraid when it actually lives up to everything that's been said about it. LOVED IT

The ending left you wanting for more, didnt it? Been a long time since I had that feeling from a modern horror flick. A total blast.

Think I ll go watch it again this weekend.
