If I had time I would do this but it's my birthday weekend and I will be away Saturday and Sunday and plus I just found out my girlfriend might possibly have cancer. They need to send her to get some tests done in Minnesota which is like forever away from me so I am extremely depressed.

I apologize for not being able to contribute.

neverending 02-08-2008 08:20 PM

So you got my final/final/final list then?

**Update**

I have received 16 lists so far (including a 75% effort from Newb, rest 25% to follow soon I hope), and for the statistical-minded folks out there, here are a few stats :
  • 16 lists
  • 1110 nominations
  • 461 nominees
  • 130 leading the pack for selection AND Honorable Mentions so far

That gives you some idea about the work I am doing right now. Its spread into 4-5 worksheets, and the compilations will be completed as of tonight, as soon as the last lists pour in.

The members who have submitted their lists (as of this morning) are :-
  • Roshiq
  • Miss Macabre
  • Crabapple
  • Neverending
  • Marya Zaleska
  • Kane Hodder
  • Cinestro
  • Doc Faustus
  • Fortunato
  • Despare
  • Bub The Zombie
  • Newb (¼ remaining!)
  • Jenna
  • Zero
  • ChronoGrl, and
  • Posher

Today is the last day for submitting your lists, folks. Dont forget it!

Expect an update on the shoutouts and nominees by tonight!

alkytrio666 02-10-2008 08:14 AM

Yo, V, did you not get mine??

crabapple 02-10-2008 08:37 AM

Right on, brother.

_____V_____ 02-10-2008 09:15 PM

Minor Update...

Winners have emerged in almost all categories except a few, which should also be decided by some other lists I am expecting. And since I got 4-5 PMs to extend this to a day or two earlier today...the deadline is officially extended till Tuesday, February 12, 2008.

If some of you who have already submitted their lists want to review them over and make any changes, feel free to drop me a PM accordingly.

I am compiling a huge list from Austin into the master list right now. So I will give you an update on the nominees and the subgenres tomorrow morning. Till then, ciao and good night, folks!

_____V_____ 02-11-2008 03:47 AM

Good morning HDC...

As promised, I am here to give another update on the compiled list as on the previous deadline.

So far I am in possession of 18 lists from members who were very energetic and knowledgeable about the genre, and put in a LOT of time and effort into their recommendations. Kudos to each and every one of you!

Secondly, we have undisputed winners in 15 sub-genres, with 5 subgenres having stiff competition for the 5 top honors. I am quite confident that by tomorrow, when the deadline officially ends, we will have winners in the 5 remaining sub-genres.

As per promised, we will have 2 Honorable Mentions in each sub-genre, which will add to the emphasis on their contribution in making that particular sub-genre popular.

I will be sending out PMs for the blurbs by tomorrow night. So, get ready to put your thinking caps on to write a concise and short blurb about a movie you have grown to love the most.

And, not forgetting all the rest of the recommendations, we will have a special update in this thread to salute all those who didnt make into the final cut, sub-genrewise.

Adios for now...and remember to send me your lists by tomorrow night!!

newb 02-11-2008 05:16 AM

cool.....I'll try to finish up today....had a busy weekend.

Despare 02-11-2008 10:48 AM

If you could send me a PM tonight with a couple/few blurbs you need that would work out fairly well. I may find myself with some time on my hands...

Disease 02-11-2008 10:58 AM

so you need the list by tomorrow night?

or by tonight?

Good Morning HDC,

All those who have submitted their lists please check your PM boxes for blurb requests. I would love all of you to send me your blurbs by Sunday. If you want more time (and more blurbs!), PM me back.

More updates to follow as the day (and night progresses), so keep watching this thread.

No problem. Send me in as many entries as you can think of.

I have sent PMs out for blurbs as we speak. Later today (or possibly tonight), we will have shoutouts to those who didnt make the final cut, but were nominated by our esteemed members.

Have a good day, folks!

Disease 02-12-2008 11:53 AM

Sorry I wont get my list in, my mind is to occupied with crap at the moment to think clear enough to be satisfied with it to send it off....

_____V_____ 02-12-2008 09:29 PM

Interesting lists! Am I reading it correctly that some of these films are actually ON the list, but in different categories? Or are these films totally not on the list? I can't imagine a list of top horror films without classics like M or Mad Love (Lorre just don't get no respect round here.).

crabapple 02-13-2008 04:40 AM

Certainly, there are lots of personal favorites of people's that didn't make it...but it's a very distinguished list of non-winners, I think! The non-winner list is worth reading too, and should be attached...

Nope. None of those are on the Top 100 (+ 40 Honorable Mentions).

Excellent idea, crabby. I will add the lists above to the Top 100 thread when I make it, to give the reader more choices in each sub-genre to pursue.

Good call.:)

They aren't just personal favorites, they're critically acclaimed milestones of the genre.

The members of HDC do it. They send in their lists of recommendations and outright winners in each subgenre comprise the Top 100.

Just a reminder...I have got some replies to my Blurbs requests but not all. So please check your PM boxes and send me your Blurbs as soon as possible. (Psst...Roshiq, Cinestro, Zero and Newb):D

Yes, and remember, this list is created by HDC members, so automatically it's going to be screwed up in some way. Consider the source, if you take my meaning.

Cool, Kane. I am waiting for at least 50% of the blurbs, before posting the Top 100 list.

Friday will be good. That way, most members can check it out by the weekend.
