People know the address to your site, and the number for your show...Some people may wanna hear the archives...Then they'll see that you're having a show...You don't have to promote it for people to check it out...Hell, I was on there today myself...I'm just trying to think of a way to be fair to everyone

If Gore says it could work out- why not give him the benefit of the doubt?

neverending 09-27-2007 06:39 PM

And there is a way people from other countries could possibly participate- but it would take a bit of work, and a bit of money. There's a piece of software called Skype- it lets you call phone numbers from your pc. It does cost, but the rates are way cheaper than a phone would be.

Well, the first night we tried it with the HDC members (The HDC Awards show)...There were some random callers...The second night, too

So, I just figured it would be difficult to filter them out

Just trying to find a way to do something exclusive to HDC, without upsetting the general public...Know what I mean?

That's what I mean by the phone cards, but still there is the time difference, I can't be up this late next week after I start back at work... and you may notice no one else from the uk is on at these times...

OH...That reminds me!!!...Isn't there supposed to be a way to just plug in your microphone to your computer, and access the show from the site?!

If that is what has been happening then I think I'm swayed back to you're side...

Can someone please look into this?...This would give all of our overseas members access to the call in for FREE

That's because I promoted BOTH SHOWS aka the HDC one AND MY WEDNESDAY SHOW on myspace!

Ahh...Okay then...Could you look into the microphone thing, please?

neverending 09-27-2007 06:51 PM

from the FAQ:

Quote:

Free alternatives include streaming the show on your computer or using a computer-to-phone solution such as Skype. Hosts also have the option to activate a Click-To-Talk feature in their account which allows listeners with a microphone headset to join a show without calling your dial in number, and hence for free
Ball's back in Gore's court- caN you do this, Gore?

And Rayne- I really feel you're putting up roadblocks that don't need to be there. Gore says he can handle the unwanted caller situation. Let's take him at his word and give him a chance.

neverending 09-27-2007 06:55 PM

And Gore- You told everybody the number is a toll-free number. The Blogtalk FAQ says all the numbers are regular New York local numbers.

GorePhobia 09-27-2007 07:01 PM

It says in the FAQ's that its free to call. That's what I read.

and the Click to Talk feature is aparently not ready yet they are still testing it.

GorePhobia 09-27-2007 07:04 PM

BTR had an old website when I first started which was free now apparently its not toll free untill the Click to Talk was implemented? what the fuck....no one take this out on my because BlogTalk told people it was a toll free number to call.....its just according to your long distance plans. if you dont have long distance plans aka free local and state wide long distance then I guess its not free....this is dumb now...

Not intententionally...Just trying to make sure there won't be any problems...I'm kind of a 'prepare for any eventuality, so you're not taken by surprise' sorta person...I truly apologize if I was coming off as an asshole

And THANK YOU for the microphone info...That would solve a LOT of problems :)

Hmm...Maybe it's set up different for the show?

I have free nationwide long distance, so no big deal to me, but that might not be true for everyone.

GorePhobia 09-27-2007 07:14 PM

Yeah.

Well I know that it used to be free to call in when their old site was up now all of a sudden only the click to talk is free which is not up yet.

Second, I would like to get some opinions from you guys on this idea.

What if we created a 'show' for ONLY HDC members?...One where we all know everyone who's calling in, and we can hang out together?...It would be just like our forum here, but instead of posting, we'd be speaking!

And EVERYONE else that we haven't heard from

So...What do you guys think?

Depending on the night (Tuesday's are always tied up for me) and the time.

I would be game if you wouldn't mind an old lady vampire as part of it.

Marya

ferretchucker 09-28-2007 06:47 AM

I'd call in for sure if I knew how much it would cost.

So do I - If it is in the UK.

Just some observations.

1. No matter which way this radio/live talk forum works out, someone will have to pay; at the moment it definitely looks like the Brits and or Europe.
2. The time factor will be an issue which ever way you look at it.

There is a danger that because of this, any HDC Radio will become more 'Here' and less 'There'. By that I mean any discussions made during a talk show, will undoubtedly be brought to the written forum, with those members who cannot participate become a little put out by it, eg

Talk show:We are all going to Horrorfest, yah.
The rest:Horrorfest We don't have a Horror fest :( , (end of discussion for us)
Talk show:Pity............. Like I said cant wait, Horrorfest it's so good, blah, blah
The rest: Log Off 'click'
That's probably over dramatic but .........

Does this mean that people who can participate in a live talk have to watch what they say, for fear of alienating those who for what-ever reason cannot participate.

**"Im trying to organise a little forum thread "Oscars", I would love if every body would take part, but I know that wont happen; I would love to have a "Live" virtual awards night where everybody can take part in, where people can "present" an award rather than me or a tiny few making it up as we go along.

Some members have even suggested having the awards live via Gore's show, great idea,........... who's going to do that, will anyone be there, for this to be live it would have to be on late or very early.

When I suggested it, the first thing said was "yeah, I want to be involved", next question "what time is it on"; the response has so far, from the Brits I may add "I dont have to stay up alnight to see it" **

I am not actually against a HDC radio show and I am currently assessing, not only do I wish to pay, but can I afford to, especially when I work during the day, and can't really afford to stay up all hours of the morning.

**Please excuse the "plug" just trying get some interest going here.

Rayne 09-28-2007 09:43 AM

I am currently 'in talks' with Gore to see if he can create a show exclusively to HDC, on a different site that DOES have the option to plug in a microphone so that all of our members outside of the US, AND our members who don't have free long distance INSIDE the US, can still participate for free (well, for the price of a microphone :))...The phone number for it isn't toll-free, but a lot of us have free long distance inside the US

Dustin found the site, and it looks REALLY freakin' awesome...

This way, Gore's regular show will still be open for the people who have THAT web address and phone number...And we will have a brand new one, just for the forum, that no one else knows about ;)

bleeding_angelgirl 09-28-2007 09:52 AM

i think its a great idea. me and you would have to have a plan, considering we sound alike and it would get confusing.

GorePhobia 09-28-2007 09:52 AM

Will this place have an archive to listen to after you have a show?...I don't see one right now...Do you think it will come up after a show?...Are you gonna use the webcam feature? ;)
