Dayne and Deuce both have the same advantage... TDs.
Both teams plan to utilize these players in short yardage and goal line situations (especially since Bush hasn't shown anything at goal line) which will translate into TDs and points. It was like having Bettis a couple years ago, you get 4 or 5 yds. a game but 2 or 3 TDs.

BH14 09-05-2006 02:32 PM

Ask any Giant or Denver fan what they think about Dayne... He couldnt run over a jr high linebacker. I am a Giant fan. I wouldnt compare him to Bettis. What has Dayne ever done in his career? Bettis can run over people and is much faster than Dayne. Bettis is a hall of fame RB and Dayne is a denver cut RB who never made it. He is 250 lb RB who thinks about cutting and using his speed rather than his power and weight. Not a good comparison... I am quite sure Lundy will get the most touches and then Morency. Dayne will get a couple touches in short yardage and will be stopped like he always has been.

I'm not saying he's that good, but his team his holding stock in his ability. I'm sure you've read it but...

Sep. 3 - John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports the Houston Texans plan to use RB Ron Dayne in both short-yardage and goal-line situations.

bwind22 09-06-2006 02:51 AM

I think Rod Smith for Ron Dayne is more fair than McAllister for Gates. (Like I said, I was expecting a counter-offer on that one.)

I'm not gonna veto a #2 WR for a goal line RB. It seems fair enough as long as both of the owners like it (which they obviously do.)

In regards to lopsided trades in general, I think it's a combination of things... Some people are very into this and are in several different leagues, others probably haven't been in fantasy football before so they may not know the value of some of the players. Another factor is probably that it's a free league so there really isn't much riding on it. That could also make be people more prone to accepting marginal trades if they like the guy they're being offered. 1 thing I can say for sure is that no one is colluding anything. It's all in good fun. I don't really care if I get 1st or 10th in this league, so I'm open to alot of trades I wouldn't be in a cash league.

Season starts tomorrow!!!! YESSSSS!!!!!!!

Go Vikes! This is our year!

GorePhobia 09-06-2006 11:43 AM

Just to let you know Flayed, you don't have any defense starting your games.

I'm not sure if you noticed. I wasn't gonna be a dick and not tell you.

I didn't want you to lose games due to lack of a starting defense.

Roderick Usher 09-06-2006 12:07 PM

I will crush you all under my mighty boot!
mwahahahahaha:D

BH14 09-06-2006 12:11 PM

Who is gonna win tomorrow? Dolphins or Steelers..... Hines Ward is playing but no Ben.

Charlie Batch is a hell of a back-up and the Steelers D is still quite powerful. I don't think the Dolphins are up for the task.

bwind22 09-06-2006 05:36 PM

Dolphins have a lot to prove this year and Pitt's kinda banged up.

Culpepper looks to be ready for action. Chambers is one of my favorite WRs in the league and Ronnie Brown is posed to have a monster year, imo.

I'll go with Miami, but if Big Ben was in there, I'd think harder about this...

knife_fight 09-06-2006 06:06 PM

some folks seem to be worried about my welfare. particularly my seeming lack of discretion in my trades. being, as someone mentioned, that this is a free league, with nothing but "bragging rights" at stake, I have no qualms about any of the trades I have made. I'd like to win, just like anyone else, but I'm doing this for fun, not competition (I'm in another league for that). I also just wanted to help out b/c for a while there it didn't seem like enough people were gonna join up.

regardless of all this, I'm looking forward to this football, and fantasy football, season. good luck, all....

...you'll need it when the Knives come to town.

kidding.

knife_fight 09-06-2006 06:07 PM

on a side note, it's looking like my whole goddam team is gonna be on the DL before the season even starts.

bwind22 09-06-2006 11:11 PM

Everyone make sure to go through the fantasy match ups and vote on who you think will win each week. That adds another element of fun to it too, I've found.

Called it:)

Culpepper looking like last season's culpepper! He really stunk.

Yep. He sucks. Glad we got rid of his 1+ turnover/game ass.

AUSTIN316426808 09-08-2006 03:45 PM

He looked good to me until the 4th quarter. I was shocked at how calm he was most of the time on that knee. I think we'll know for sure by about week 3 or 4 if he's improved or if he's still 'can't do it without Moss' Daunte.

Steelers defense actually looked better than it did last year. If Parker can hold up in the second half of the season and Ben stays healthy I don't see any reason why they can't get back.

Biggest mistake I saw made last night was Heath Miller being matched up with linebackers. I don't care who the LB is, it's a mismatch against Miller.

I wasn't trying anything fishy, if the trade's that big of a deal I'll give him back.

GorePhobia 09-08-2006 09:37 PM

It's not a big deal Austin. It's a free league so who cares.

GorePhobia 09-10-2006 11:34 AM

I am having alot of fun so far in the league.

How about everyone else?

The Flayed One 09-10-2006 11:56 AM

I always love fantasy football. Yahoo isn't my favorite site to play it, but it's still fun.

For any of you who missed it, the Bengals just knocked the shit out of Trent Green. I think he's dead.

BH14 09-10-2006 12:34 PM

Pennington is tearing apart the titans... Very accurate and connecting a lot with Coles. I just picked him up as my 2nd QB.

AUSTIN316426808 09-10-2006 12:50 PM

Before you get too excited think about what you said, he's tearing the Titans apart...I could tear the Titans apart. I wanna see him tear the Pats or Dolphins apart.

AUSTIN316426808 09-10-2006 01:00 PM

Guess I should've started the Ravens. I was thinking about it up until about 5 minutes before kickoff but just decided to go with the Bears for whatever reason. Wrong decision apparently.

Roderick Usher 09-10-2006 01:51 PM

I'm getting my ass handed to me!

Shaun Alexander, Cadillac Williams, Carson Palmer, Joe Horn - bupkis!

I have Horn in 3 of my 5 leagues!

This'll probably be Alexander & Palmer's lowest scoring week all year so I wouldn't worry about them at all and TB isn't gonna play Balt. DEF every week.

Oh I'll stay the course, but this week is an annoying abberation

AUSTIN316426808 09-10-2006 05:06 PM

Anybody wanna give up a RB without a week 4 bye for McMicheal or Rod Smith. Maybe both if the RB is of equal quality.

AUSTIN316426808 09-10-2006 05:35 PM

Hasselbeck got 200 yards, Mushin got 100 yards but no TDs from either or Chad Johnson who only had 48 yards. So If Wayne and Barber don't have big games I'm done. Unless the Viks kick 8 field goals tomorrow.

bwind22 09-10-2006 05:39 PM

I just sent you a trade.

AUSTIN316426808 09-10-2006 09:05 PM

Hasselbeck - 200 yards, no TDs.
Mushin- 100 yards, no TDs.
Tiki- 110 Rushing, 60 recieving, no TDs.

Chad Johnson and Reggie Wayne barely did anything.

So Longwell kicks 3 FGs and a couple EPs or I'm done.

The Flayed One 09-11-2006 04:46 AM

Well bwind, I'm up by 7 points. You have LT, and I have Lamont Jordan tonight. This is going to get interesting.

BH14 09-11-2006 12:28 PM

Anybody want Ah. Green, K. Jones or T. Jones? Give me an offer. Green had a good game. I have too many RBs and they will cost cheapily. It could be a 2 for 1 deal or whatever.

GorePhobia 09-11-2006 07:18 PM

So how did everyone think the week was?

As far as our league? It sucked for me, got all the yards you would need but no TDs.

GorePhobia 09-11-2006 10:11 PM

Yeah that sucks.
I had a great week.

So I am happy.

BH14 09-11-2006 10:23 PM

FireMillen----- you dropped Lee Evans but haven't picked up a replacement player. You are a player short with only 14. Everyone else has 15.

GorePhobia 09-11-2006 10:39 PM

I have a question.

When will it update and say who has their wins and loses?

I have the stat tracker. It cost 10 bucks. You won 58-19. The records will report tomorrow though.

It always makes things more interesting when people still have players on Monday night. Too bad for you, your Monday night guy was a dog and lost you 2 points. :p
