The main protagonist in The Eye is not a child-actor, not a kid wise beyond his years and able to deliver an arresting performance which distracts from the very simple storyline itself (and "surprise" revelatory ending) - it's a young woman.

the Eye was good. The girl who started screaming at the main character that she is sitting on her place (or something...) scared the hell out of me. I didn't like the ending that much though...

I just bought Phone, a South-Korean movie, today but I haven't watched it yet...

I actually didn't think this one was too bad

have they done a dubbed version then...

Has anyone else seen this? I caught it on the IFC channel and was really creeped out--which I hardly ever am anymore by the run-of-the-mill slashers that merely bore me! The movie's about a woman who gets corneal transplants and starts seeing...(guess what!) It's more sophisticated than it sounds, and the CGI are actually spooky--unlike the speed-of-sound "horrors" we're confronted with in most modern offerings.

i liked it.

and this should be under modern horror movies, not general.

Okay...So far this movie has been called Japanese, Thai, and Chinese...


I actually bought this one...I watched it...Then I gave it to Seri because she has an Asian movie collection (goes along with her Japanese fanaticism...Along with the anime, the dolls, the clothes, the food (I'm sick of seeing Pocky all over the house...), the swords, the books, etcetera......BUT, I don't know where she put it, and I really don't wanna wake her up...

Anyway...I kinda thought it was Chinese...

i myself forgot this was chinese ...it was so much better than the average chinese horror .. which usually cant seem to focus on what kind of movie it wants to be (horror, comedy, kung-fu, ganster, love story)

one or two movies like that are fun ... but every damn one ?

the eye was okay but it had key traits from gothica this is because the crew that worked on the eye also worked on gothica so the the traits aswell as simerlarities are mostly the same the sprit posseses the young D I D (DAMSEL IN DISTRESS) this works good in most thriller i pearsonaly do not think that this particular film should be classed as horror.

THE EYE canot "have key traits from gothica" because it came out a year BEFORE Gothica.

Did you happen to notice you're in THE JAPANESE HORROR forum? We're talking about the ORIGINAL version of The Eye- not the bullshit American remake.

Go watch about 500 more horror movies and THEN come back here and post your opinions... oops I mean "opion."

I saw the original first then the remake 2 days ago. The actress in the original I find more believable then pretty Jessica Alba, and the scenes where scarier. I shocked when that lady asked "Why are you sitting on my chair" and rushes to her. But it kinda copied the story of Six Sense and Ringu, because in Six Sense that boy could see dead people, and in Ringu she released Sadako's soul. And all where good ghosts.
7 for the original - 5.5 for the remake.
