I also know very little about Anime/Manga and I'm sure I'm missing a ton there. I know Demoin Bane as some Lovecraftian elements..

I'll check out the webcast when I'm awake I don't touch lovecraft in the haunting mode i'm in right now.

That is an intimidating list of all things Lovecraft in the sense I thought I had seen a lot of Lovecraft stuff but clearly there's still plenty out there to still enjoy its obvious you have done some THOROUGH research and kudos to you great work :)

The Necronomican is an enjoyable anthology film if you're not too precious about Lovecraft or the treatment of his work. Its divided into 3 stories (The Drowned/The Cold/WHispers+ a framing episode staring Lovecraft himself.). Combs makes a decent (if not too accurate) Howard Philips and its good to see David Warner appear even if he doesn't get a whole lot to do. "The Drowned" reminds me very much of an episode of Tales from the Crypt crossed with 'The Monkeys Paw'. I did like the idea of the ressurected wife being a kinda of meat-puppet on a Dagon-like creature.
"The Cold" is probably the best of the three stories and really the only one that has any sort of Lovecraftian source but a common fault with anthology films the characters lacked dept. Despie being a Brian Yuzna fan I thought "Whispers" was the weakest of the three and the situation and acting made it more unbeliable than a story about brain swapping aliens really should be. I did enjoy the ending despite it been something we've seen a dozen.

Necronomicon has a style and feel similar to Stuart Gordon's Lovecraftian pieces but fall short of their those films efforts. Thats not to say this isn't fun little flick and is worth a watch.

I agree with you that the third segment is the weakest in that and I would go far as to say that it would stop me recommending this compared to other Lovecraft inspired films. I agree that the first two are quite fun to watch but only if you don't take them too seriously.
