I take all that shit with a grain of salt. As far as the assault, where he was yelling can be assault so yeah, it's easy to believe he raised his voice. This one, well, if somebody interrupted my job (who knows how many times this guy interrupted him) I'd be pissed too. That DP was a pussy though, he should have stood up to Bale, told him his little speech impediment/lisp was retarded and then left. Although I guess he likes must value things like "employment" and "decent" social behavior.

some people need to be treated exactly like that, it's not bullying. It's called getting things done, changing things you don't like and DEMANDING respect for your time. My personal "button" would be wasting my time. Don't waste my time, I value it pretty highly. How some people can smile as people waste their time out of respect for the person's precious feelings..... beyond me. cry about it on your own time.

I think some people could learn a lot from Christian Bale's tirade.

Ya, maybe this DP wasn't all that great at his job. Even if he was, I bet he's alot better at it now. Some people really just need a good kick in the ass, and that often isn't too pleasent to watch. Smashing the guys lights or actually kicking his ass would have been alittle overboard for 'on the set'. I say he got exactly what he had coming.

Apparently its not the first time Bale had told the dude to stay out of the shot.

urgeok2 02-05-2009 05:33 AM

i think it could be handled a hell of a lot better.
That being said - i'm not sure what the guy was saying when he was replying to Bale but it seemed to get him more and more upset.

(Bale isnt terribly articulate is he ?)

if i was Bale i'd have taken him aside the 1st time ... maybe gone off the second time. (you dont go off like this on a first offence)

if i was the other guy i would have admitted blame, apologized and assured him it would never happen again. If Bale had kept going off like that after i did - i'd have punched him in the throat and said "fuck you and this job Batman"

Christian Bale is of course human and he would lose his temper after what happened, however, he is also in the public eye and under scrutiny with every thing he does..like other actors.
Christian Bale is an idol and role model to thousands of kids out there, especially since his performance as Batman.
Unless this was another publicity stunt to make people aware that Christian Bale is the next Terminator.

Speaking to this guy like he did made me want to slap the fucken smug off his face, talking to this guy like he was a nobody, especially with all that profanity.
Well he is a somebody now..!!!

This reminded me of Russell Crowes outbursts.
Talking down to a mere worker like that... of course would make a couple of mistakes..this guy could lose his job and his livelihood
...lets not forget who put you there in the 1st place you dumb fuck

You can't justify being a douchebag.

Sure, the DP walked into his eyeline. A simple "Hey asshole, you fucked up my take" would suffice. Bale is just one person - it takes a hundred or so people to make a film and all of them have "important" jobs, but only actors and directors get to act this way without being fired.

Bale acted out like a petulant child with delusions of entitlement.

ferretchucker 02-05-2009 07:29 AM

I don't get how people can say how surprised they are. Unless you're a good friend of Bale's, how can you know what he's like? He may have been in good films and appear nice on public appearances, but everybody puts on a good face when they're being watched by thousands of people. Same with most actors. Maybe he just has a short fuse. Maybe it was a bad day. Maybe he's a total asshole. We don't know. I just think what he did was stupid. It's just a shot. Do another take, jesus christ. If he was developing a cure for AIDS or something and the guy knocked over the test tubes, then maybe.

It hasn't lowered my opinion of his character because I never had one. To me, he's just an actor. I have an opinion of his characters and his acting ability. Nothing else.

The DP was saying things like "okay Christian" and "I'm sorry". The other actor was telling him to "walk it off, let's cool down". Bale told everyone to "shut the fuck up" so he could finish his little performance.
