Roderick Usher 11-10-2008 12:26 PM

I've noticed a drop-off in my vision lately. I've never needed glasses and have always had freakishly good vision (20/10) but now it is simply average. I can't read the street signs from more than a block away anymore and it feels really weird.

I know it only keeps degenerating so I'll probably be headed for glasses in the next decade or two.

Getting old blows.

My knuckles are the worst - they ache all the time...especially when a low pressure system rolls through:(

I wore glasses for a long time, then stopped for a while (I cant remember why) and when i tried to go back, i couldnt do it. I have always been in the same boat as Rod, about 20/11 for most o fmy life, but I have an astigmatism that makes things screwy at certain distances, whihc is why i had the glasses in the first place.

These days, i cant wear anythgin. Even sunglasses give me a splitting headache, so on sunny days i wear a hat with a visor.

i cant leave the house without sunglasses .. even when it's overcast.

and V is telling me not to watch TV in the dark ??!! thats the only way i can watch a movie !!!

Ah the joys of aging. I got glasses when I was about 6, and wore them or contacts until I was 32. I did lasiks, and went to 20/15. Not too bad, until I hit 39, when I was told the headaches and blur were from computer screens. Ugh..ah well, the lasiks was well worth it; still is. Not having to wait until the correctives are in or on is a huge bonus. As Rod said, the low pressure systems are murder. Knuckles swell and hurt, the knees stiffen, and the toes feel like someone hit them with a hammer. And the fun has just begun here in the Pacific Northwest :D

How can you watch it in the light? Reflections get in the way!

Me neither. My eyes are very sensitive to sunlight. No clue why.

Good.

As for watching TV in the dark, total darkness is a tremendous strain to the eyes. Some sort of soft lighting, preferably behind you, overhead...somewhere where it doesnt cast an annoying reflection in the screen, is much better. The eyes will get accustomed to the soft light, and dont have to adjust to the blackness of the room and the sudden shifting glares from the TV.

Boredom I suppose. I'm not a fan of summer, and get irritated by the Sun so much when I was younger I thought if I stared at it enough it would go away. lol I know, silly childish thought. Weird even. But, soon after I realized that wasn't the case I slowly stopped.

Been in a sort of denial for the last few months - but i cant ignore it any more..

I've definately lost some sight in my left eye.
Until a short while ago i've had 20/20 vision .. pretty good for a 47 year old guy who's spent the last 27 years working in front of computer screens (and an avid reader)

but tnow - it is apparent i'll need to get my eyes tested and probably have to wear glasses to read.

frigging weird .. i'm one of the only people i know that doesnt wear glasses or contacts ... what the hell .. its been a nice ride.

this happen to anyone else ?
when i cover my right eye - it just feels like its a bit blurry - like there's water in my eyes that will clear away - but it never does ..

ahh well ... i wonder how long before my dick falls off .....

Newb ?

No shit!!!!! Same thing happened to me, perfect vision for 48 years and 2 years ago I pick up a tv guide and it's blurry. It literally went overnight.....
I still play in a adult hockey league and adult baseball league and it sucks because everything is blurry in close :( but from 2 ft out it's still perfect.

And the dick is working just fine, no little blue pill needed........for now!!!

LOL...no shit. I do the same thing, I have a pair of those things in my truck, cars, bedroom, family room, kitchen, media room, tackle boxes, garage, office....those things are everywhere.........except when I really need them like at a restaurant!!!!! :(
