yesterday my evil alter ego - HIS HERALD - overtook me and began posting innocuous though slighly irrelevant posts about HIS coming (some of you may remember my friend Herald as a fake avatar I used to announce my return from one of my periodic slumbers).

well - I'll admit it was mainly just screwing with people in the hopes of livening things up around here. I'll return to the fact that nothing was offensive, obscene or even really attacking (just lots of 'HE is coming' stuff). and i even tried to make it vaguely relevant to the threads.

but it does speak, in my mind at least, to the lethargic nature of this place (once you could be sure that any post would get five or six responses within an hour or so - these days i can log in throughout the day and see barely any movement). i am not in favor of obnoxious trolls - but it does seem that the rules of what counts as 'obnoxious' have become strikingly strict.

so - if some mod wants to ban me for my little alter-ego prank - feel free. after three years on this forum, i can't really say i'm sure i'll be here much longer anyway.

I have to agree that. though they were annoying, things were a lot more interesting when the trolls were here. IT seems to be very quiet and nothing grabs my eye. And, not that they're no good, all the threads seem to be either tournaments or "the last...you...", which don't really get many responces other than film, book or song titles or place names. But we have to decide, which is better?

I like that things are mostly relevant right now. All the trolls just drove more people away than the recent silence. I don't know about you guys, but I've just been busy lately. I come on here once or twice a day and I post a few things but I don't have the time to discuss or debate anything too in depth.

What really gets my goat is that I can see all these people are looking at the threads, but none comment. Sme threads have over a hundred views an less than 10 posts.

Do we really need trolls for this forum to stay alive and partying?

I personally wouldn't mind as i love being mean to people, but i would hate to think that's why people come here.

I think this forum needs more regular posters. Like there used to be in a not so distant past.

I miss our big happy family. :(

I mean, there are 9 people viewing the general forum, and it seems like only me, you, crab, VC, MM and Miss are posting! WHo are the other 3?
