ok, i need yalls help. we were originally going to call it the crypt cafe, but i found out there is a place with that name already. so, for now, we are going with the nice and simple cafe of horrors, but i cant help but feel the name could be better. i like the cafe of horrors, very straight forward, but i need some help from some horror fanatics.

I prefer "Horror Cafe" over "Cafe of Horrors" but you can be more creative than that. A few goofy suggestions:

Necropolis
Gran Guignol Grill
The Laboratory
Bedlam Bar and Grill
Scream Cafe
Igor's

And I really like the English Pub Style :
The Burned Witch
The Stake and Chainsaw (great wooden signage potential!)
The wife thinks it's funnier as " The Steak and Chainsaw"
Hack and Slash
The Silver Bullet

I'll come up with more, these are just the first one I though of

Whatever it is, you need a simple, graphic logo that you can put on t-shirts and pint glasses and shit like that. You'll make more money merchandising your name and idea than through liquor and food sales:)

hey, i really like the hack and slash cafe idea, could have lots of fun with that, and i was diggin the silver bullet idea, i was gonna have a 6'5" or so werewolf display inside anyways, like those stuffed bears in hunting shops, so the silver bullet would be cool. im also really diggin the stake and chainsaw, but i think i like hack and slash a lot, hmmmmmmmmmmm.

texaschainsaw 06-16-2007 05:43 PM

some others i have thought about....
chainsaw cafe
the severed limb
necronomicon cafe
cafe of the dead
sleepaway cafe
xombi cafe
the rotting corpse (dont think anyone would eat here...)

we still keep coming back to the cafe of horrors, but we have plenty of time to find the perfect name.

hmmm.....you seem to want "cafe" in the name

how about "The Passaway Cafe"........"eat fine food and then we will fucking kill ya"

no..........maybe......"Cafe of Death"......."if our food don't kill you, the bill will"

oooooo.....wait......"Cafe of Blood"......."eat, drink and DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH YA FUCKING MAGGOT"

....maybe a bit too strong........I'm still thinking

I think it is a good idea, and if I were gonna do it, I would decorate the place with nostalgic images--stay away from modern horror, theme it with antiquated classics (everything pre-1980) and some high-end cheeseball. Same with the movies, I would pick movies with maybe a sense of eloquence and sophistication. Draw in sophisticate wannabes with that sort of spin...think coffeehouse, art house...feature special music mixes on the sound system with dialogue clips from movies. I would go if it had a suitably pretentious atmosphere!

If I lived there I'd totally go.

Maybe if I ever travel out that way I'll stop in.

You should have people join HDC and get like 10% off their next bill lol.

Here, here!

One of the coolest things in the restaurant biz is having regulars. My favorite way to keep regulars is to offer special beer mugs with the customer's name (or other personalization) on them...that the customer buys, but stays at the restaurant. That way the regular gets "his own glass" every time and feels he is being treated special and you hold an object that draws the person back again and again.

With a horror cafe the specialty mug could be a skull or a goblet or any number of Gothic vessels.

Why, such is almost "magical" thinking!  ;)

I definitely love the classics, but my main idea was to have this place be more of a modern horror theme, I feel like the folks in austin would rather watch some old 70's or 80's flicks than anything. the decor of the whole place will be more modern as well, but there will be certain areas dedicated for the classics. there will be a lot of decorations that i myself will make, like life sized werewolves, zombies, and other fun stuff. there will be tons of movies posters everywhere, im just obsessed with the stuff made between 70's and 90's.
