Here's the description:
Grimm's Grimmest
Murder, cannibalism, incest—not exactly kid stuff, right? But the 19 uncensored stories in Grimm's Grimmest reveal that German brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm weren’t always writing for children. Their original version of "Cinderella," for example, shows the wicked stepsisters hacking off their toes and heels to wedge their feet into the golden slippers. And we won't even tell you what happens to Rapunzel! Fiendishly illustrated with full-color plates. 142 pages.

Seriously, I HATE that shit, but then again I'M into HORROR, that other (chick flick, romance, drama) shit bores me to death....AND...Vampires are supposed to be evil, vicious, soulless, brutal monsters NOT whiny, sad, sappy, guilt-ridden, lovelorn, remorseful wimps

I'll have to agree with you there Rod- one of the best books on writing I've ever read. Now if he would follow his own advice more often...

No, actually it's true...Even King admitted that he doesn't always follow his own advice

Kinda like the line from Alice In Wonderland...

LadyFrost 01-05-2007 05:40 AM

thanks for all the help people...even if it was a burn...it helps me see what some people would rather read in a book....i should put up a poll or something lol

and thanks bloodrayne for giving me a link to the old thread, it was an awesome read, i just posted a rendition of Little Red Riding Hood and Beauty and the Beast.

and now i want to get that book of Grimms Grimmest...i've got one book of their collection but its a kids one...one i can read to my kids when i have them. But i want to get an uncunt version of their fairytales, as i love them so much.

You All Forgot The Company Of Wolves

Hey there Frosty(waves). Back in the mists of history was movie Called In The Company Of Wolves. A weird coming of age cum dream take on The Red Ridinghood myth. I was really weird & erotic with lots of sexual overtones but not much sex. So anyway heres a link to an analysis of the film. http://www.geocities.com/za5tar/thecompanyofwolves.html
Have fun & Iam old enough to have seen this in the theaters. Even though I had to sneak in.

LadyFrost 01-05-2007 07:53 AM

thanks Soloman Kane, i appriciate the help...you should check out the link that BloodRayne gave me..i posted my adaption of Little Red Riding Hood there...it was just a quick idea and i think i'm going to elaberate on it for my fairytale collection.

Check out Angela Carter

Iam fimiliar with the book that bloodrayne posted having read it during my Neil Gaiman Mortal Gods, Death, Sandman comicbook reading days. Anne Rice was kind of a june come lately to this lady's works. http://www.kirjasto.sci.fi/acarter.htm
Also check out The Fables comicbook series. The writing is interesting & quick. The subject matter very adult oriented but without the horror element. It might be helpful too you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fables_(comic)
Have fun with it.
In college I had a very progressive film professor & I did a paper on the dream world as the gateway to horror. Films like Phantasm, The Shining, An American Werewolf In London, Susperia, The Fog, & alot of others have an elemental dreamlike quality to them where the audience can't seem to decide if its a dream or reality. Alot of the fairytales also have this quality. Some silent films have this in spades. The Silent Beauty & the Beast is a great example. Its sets & such were unreal.
