Holy Shit, Jesus married a volleyball!!!

All of the Indiana Jones movies pissed me off. I won't go into why because for one, you probably don't care and two, you wouldn't agree with me anyway.:)

By the way, have any of you that are throwing off on The Da Vinci Code ever read the book? Id did, thought it sucked, but that's just me. If you haven't read it, I would advise that you not talk about it on the grounds of...not knowing one single thing about what you're talking about.

again, my complaint has nothing to do with the quality of the book, but with the way the book is being perceived as something more than what it is

I don't think anyone is saying The Da Vinci Code is an amazing life-changing well-written nobel prize winning book. I just thought it was entertaining. Dan Brown isn't horrible, but he isnt the next Hemingway. The book was fine, but I agree that some people are taking it a bit seriously.

I love all the idiotic protesters that are unknowingly killing their own cause. I mean, Hollywood cant buy publicity like that.

I understand that completely, and you are absolutely correct by assessing that people are doing just that. It is completely irritating. It's true that the Gnostic gospels talk about the Magdalen in such a way, but Brown carries the theory (theory being the opperative word) to the limit.

However, you know, who the fuck am I? I don't give a shit if Jesus was married, had a harem, or was flaming gay. I'm a fucking Pagan. I just want the Holy Grail mysth returned.

Sorry, S, if I implied anything about you.:)

The STE 05-18-2006 03:37 PM

lol, you said "gay"

anybody watch a&e or history channel? neway that is all they r talking about is that dan brown's books. i am so tired of hearing about if jesus and mary had something going on. i know that's not what it's all about but that's what they lean toward!

but there are more interesting stories that get no National Geographic channel specials. I mean, honestly, what the fuck is so special about saying Jesus got married or something? Hey, guess what? LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST! Hell, Kevin Smith made a movie about his great great great great great great great grand-niece (Dogma spoiler-warning). But some guy writes that he married Mary Magdalene and Da Vinci put secret codes in his paintings, all of a sudden OMG WHAT IF THAT WERE REAL!? Wake me when someone makes a movie about Jesus being black (besides Dogma).

Look, I'm not saying the book is a BAD dimestore thriller novel, I'm just sick and tired of it being elevated into something that it's not. I'm sick of hearing about it, so I'm not going to read it. And I'm probably not going to see the movie, either.

I completely agree, Tom Hanks(and others involved in with the film) said something close to this...''It's all a bunch of who ha not to be taken seriously.'' That(maybe minorly, but all the same) is ripping the book and film of any seriousness thought to have been put into it by Dan Brown. Like I said in a previous post Brown just took notes from 'Holy Blood, Holy Grail'(which seems to be the serious investigation into the matter) and threw a story into it. Robert Langdon is a fictional as are the rest of the characters. So I don't know what all the fuss is about myself.

Also, look who the director is, how controversial do you think opie would let one of his films get? Any spark of believability and/or intrigue/controversy the book possesses is probably gonna be killed by how harmlessly Howard presents and concludes the theories.
