In a sense it almost fell flat just before it ended, which is ironic because that is the plight of the main character. Definitely worth a watch, and when all is said and done, and a little time has passed, i will probably really come to like it. Ashe.

I had this on my top 11 of 2008. Loved it.

I just watched:

Elite Squad

A City of God-style Brazilian favela cop story is brutal and fun and interesting with a solid ending, but a meandering pace and somewhat displeasing structure. Worth a rent if you dig tough-guy cop stories with subtitles.

7/10

A Perfect Getaway--Note to aspiring screenwriters--a twist is not a story, and therefore not a film. What a waste of time.

The last horror film I saw was The Haunting in Connecticut. It wasn't all that bad, a little of the modern "shocks with CGI" that seem to be all to prevalent in todays horror films. 6/10.

Rewatched Halloween (2007). I take back what I said about it being 'the worst remake.' I think when I first watched it I had just watched House of 1000 Corpses or something, which REALLY sucks. Decent flick, but hate the first hour. Too much on the 'psyche', not enough on the stabby. Might go see part 2 tomorrow if it isn't too crowded.

Hannibal

I've always enjoyed the fact that there's more Hannibal in this film, as the name would suggest, as he's an interesting character. I somehow feel I would like him. But I fear the more I watch it the more things don't seem to work in the film. Just little things. Where did Lecter get the chloroform from after the pig incident? Surely they would have taken any he had on his persons from him. There were others. But it's still an enjoyable film with a good ending, although I would have prefered the original one. I also thought Julianna Moore was a good choice for Starling.

4/5
