It's the whole smug camp thing- it's so hard to do well.

Rocky Horror did camp well.

IMO Waxwork & Night of the Creeps were just over the top stupid.

Watched two more from the 50 Movie Pack of Horror Classics:

Creature From the Haunted Sea - what an odd little movie!
Nightmare Castle

I didnt care for Waxwork either. It was a cool idea, but it wasnt executed very well (it was very hard to watch with my friend who had a hardon for it), and the end was just godamn retarded....

Thought WAR was alright.
I think this is the same film released under the title "rogue assassin" here, with Jason Statham and Jet Li?
Yknow...there was another film I thought looked great from the trailers, similar theme, at least looked like a fun action romp that I would get a kick out of - it was called ECKS VS SEVER.
Funny thing is, the amount of similarities that happened with these 2 films.
Both starred people that had been in pretty good movies ('cept maybe Lucy Liu), both had great looking trailers, both seemed like they'd be kickass action flicks...ha, and I turned them both off after about 20-30 minutes.

Honestly among the films I will never bother with, or remotely recommend.

Hey just wondering if anyone in the states caught the movie "THE SIGNAL" yet?
Came out a while back, and I thought it was great...really gritty and crazy...nice soundtrack.
Anyone?

Haven't seen it yet, but I want to.

Definately check it out...it's quite brutal, but I love it.
Check it out if you liked Battle Royale and series 7 - it's like those with a "weird" twist.

Vault of Horror
Mulholland Drive

fun stuff!

Demons

You know, I think I've grown away from this kind of thing...would have LOVED this a couple years back, but as it stands I was pretty lukewarm about it.

Maybe I was just in the wrong mood...but at least give me some semblance of a plot, or characters that are a little bit more than cardboard clones? Sure, the gore was fantastically done - but it takes more than that to make a good horror movie, IMO.

I didn't really hate it, but I can't see why it gets so much praise. Other movies have done the same thing far better.

Are You Scared?- I fell asleep

Angel Heart- I thought it was better when I watched it the first time.
All I saw this time were all the body doubles...man, I had no idea they needed 50 people to film sex scenes and STILL Rourke looked bad:eek: Amazing.

Waxwork- another one that was better the first time I watched it.

Secrets and Lies/ Career Girls- too fucking dismal. Captured bleak, fucked-up life perfectly.

Catacombs- better than expected, I would actually recommend this movie sheerly on the ending:)

Midnight Meat Train- brilliant, gotta love the twisted intellect of Clive Barker:cool:
