Yup, Joe Hill is Stephen Kings son. I believe he got a publishing deal before he revealed the fact, because he didn't want to just be "Stephen Kings son"

He's awesome too. In my opinion, his dad tends to shy away from being graphic, focusing more on suspense. Joe Hill tends to take the entrails and rub your nose in them.

Weird, just weird. I would pick The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Cujo, The Tommyknockers, Lisey's Story, Rose Madder, or Firestarter as his weakest but Gerald's Game is probably in my top ten.

I've only read Heart-shaped Box but I was impressed.

Curiosity led me to list my favorites/least favorites of Mr. King to see how everyone else felt about his works.

Favorites: IT, Pet Semetary, The Shining, The Stand, Salem's Lot, Night Shift, The Dark Tower series, Different Seasons, The Talisman, Black House, Skeleton Crew, From A Buick 8, Gerald's Game, Misery, Four Past Midnight, Insomnia, The Green Mile, Bag of Bones, Dreamcatcher, Cell, Duma Key, and Full Dark No Stars.

Middle of the Road: Carrie, The Dead Zone, Cycle of the Werewolf, Thinner, Blaze, The Dark Half, The Regulators, Needful Things, Desperation, Nightmares and Dreamscapes, Christine, Hearts in Atlantis, Everything's Eventual, Just After Sunset, and The Bachman Books.

Weakest: Firestarter, Cujo, The Tommyknockers, The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon, Delores Claiborne, Rose Madder, Lisey's Story, The Colorado Kid.

TBR pile: Eyes of the Dragon, Under the Dome, Blockade Billy, 11/22/63, Danse Macabre, On Writing, The Wind Through the Keyhole, Doctor Sleep.

I read quite a bit of King in my teens but I have since then read tons of other authors, and yes their are authors out there with just as much to offer as King (Blackwood, Barker, Simmons, Machen, etc.), and a few that surpass him in greatness, but in my opinion only a few that really are greater than King (Poe, Lovecraft). King is the author I always fall back to because he introduced me to horror and weird fiction, I suppose he is like comfort food to me. Their are some authors I haven't got around to reading yet (Ligotti, Le Fanu, Hope Hodgson) and who knows maybe they will be one of the few, I will have to see about that.;)

well thats kind of what i meant ,s.k i allways fall back on coz yeah he kinda introduced me to horror fiction novels, him and maybe dean koonts.but i find they do relate to a wide audience.people not even into horror might enjoy a s.k book(like my girlfriend).but for the true gore fan theres plenty of authors to fullfill there needs with a more graphic nature in there writing.

yeah, absolutely. I don't like to read the same author twice in a row unless it is a series and sometimes even then I have to break up the monotony.
